Yes, it stinks to start over at another Regional, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do. Going through training here was definitely easier after having been through Comair's. But it is top notch here as well.
Here's a little bit of what I know so far: AA recalling has begun and the first class starts next month. 209(ish) AE pilots will be going over as a result of a recent ruling. Also movement due to: age 65, 22 CRJ700's in the process of being delivered, and the potential new rest rules. Vacancy bid that just opened has over 100 upgrades, mainly for DFW & ORD slots. LAX is growing. High up management told our class they up'd hiring to 30 a month thru the end of 2011. In fact, I think that is increasing as they are talking about doing dueling classes (one a.m. new hire class, one p.m. new hire class, every 2 weeks). I do see some similarities to Comair, but more things that are better and improving.
Most new classes are getting LGA CRJ700 or ORD ERJ (although today's I hear, had 3 SJU ATR). There is talk of a MIA ERJ base in the next couple months, so that should create quite a bit of movement from FL commuters. Which means, potential for quick movement up the list in ORD and LGA. One higher up mentioned that those going to ORD now will probably be off reserve in 2-3 months. Believe what you will, but I have a good feeling about things and AE seems to have their stuff together. The ALPA/Mgmt relationship is good as well.
One ALPA rep said other ALPA carrier pilots have automatic interviews, so you may want to check in to that. I know they seem to like people from other 121 carriers, especially since the more they get from there, they less likely they are to have to lower the mins.
Hope this helps!

Back in Febuary 08, Comair sounded like a good direction to head. That was a big mistake on my part. I just hope that never happens again... to any company. If I learned one thing from comair...it was to stay away from wholly owened. But who knows. I hope AE does really well. Good luck to you! I hope all of you find something better.

Being wholly-owned is only a smart percentage of this mess. No other regional is immune to this 50 seat aircraft thing. Comair is just the first one to go through this, because we have the oldest fleet. Other 50 seat aircraft operators will have to go through the same thing.
Delta owns Comair, most of Comair's aircraft are either owned by Delta or leased. Delta gave $1 a month leased CRJ900's to Freedom. If Delta wanted Comair, it would have been replacing the CRJs with other aircraft (CRJ700, -900) over the years since purchasing the company. Instead, they are just running the life out of the planes and using it as an excuse to get rid of Comair planes. I'm sure somebody read the included instruction booklet and warranty information provided by our Canadian friends, and knew the life expectancy of the aircraft. Yet, they have never looked at replacing the aircraft....not once. Use 'em till they are used up, get rid of them, and then get rid of the unwanted child known as Comair...that is the plan, it will happen.
Think how, over the past few years, we have heard of other airlines trading planes for others (3 CRJs for 1 -900, etc..) Has Comair ever been offered a trade like that? I can't remember a time that they were.
Believe you, me (HA! I just had to say that!) The whole Comair thing is a direct result of being Delta owned.

Hi Guys,
If you are moving to another airline, are you supposed to send a resignation letter to Comair? When I first got furloughed in 2008, the fleet manager told me that they would disregard the letter since there might be a chance for us to return to Comair and we get to keep our seniority number (that was 2008).
Has anybody gone through the process? Appreciate any information.
