Hey guys and gals,
Hate to say this but just sat with an extremely high management personnel. Tomorrow at 9:00 9:30 on Epic will be the announcement. He was not happy, somber actually an actually admitted he is out of a job. He could not give details however in a roundabout way said many many many pilots are out of a job. Says and I quote, " I've tried to see and put a positive spin on this and I cannot." "I feel horrible for our pilots". Many are not fond of him however he is a straight shooter. He continued on to say that he tried to convince Delta n doing the right thing and hiring or least interviewing our pilots. Delta will NOT interview Comair due to the pilot strike. this was direct from his him. He continued to state that he has spoken to DAL's MEC and leadership advising that 3/4 of our pilot group was not here during strike. However this did not seem to matter.
Again, he would reveal the announcement however he was somber, and I have never seen him negative in the 10 years I have known him.
This is my third airline and looks like i will need a fourth.
God speed to all.
Epic tomorrow, 9:00 to 9:30...

Is he for real or is this just a contract negotiation tactic in motion? I had seriously considered returning to Comair when recall occurs, but looks like I'm just going to stay put, suck it up, upgrade in a couple of years and go from there... If this is true, it will really suck. Further solidifies my belief that hanging your hat and "trying to retire" from a regional is a bad decision.

I'll believe this if it actually comes out tomorrow. Until then sounds like stuff we've been hearing for years...

Log into your Company email at work and there will be an email telling you how to change your Internet Explorer settings to access Epic from home.

Here are my questions about all these rumors about tomorrow.

1.- Why would DL announced additional (no, it is not a shift) flying that includes Comair?.

2.- If they're going to cut staff and mgmt knows about this, why get 148 recalls back?. They can stop classes and send people home and not have to bother with training. Don't mention morale will suffer if they do this. It's crappy now as it is.

3.- How come our flying schedule is set until Feb 2011 and no changes have been made?.

4.- "If" they sold 50 planes to Skywest -and no crews-, Why ins't Skywest hiring massively for the additional 500+ pilots they're going to need to maned those airplanes?. Furthermore, if that's the case, half of the support staff in Comair would be gone too. I don't see them freaking out.

These are just off the top of my head and I'm sure other questions without plausible explanations can be further raised.

The way I see it, I'll believe anything when it happens.
Enjoy your day.

"Delta will NOT interview Comair due to the pilot strike"

Incorrect on that little tidbit. We just had a some FO's and I know of at least one captain that just interviewed during the most recent Delta hiring spree. I believe a couple FO's got hired if my sources were correct.

All the FO's were hired post strike. The captain did not get hired. Low percentage hired but it's a start.

I know of 7 comair pilots that have interviewed with Delta in the past month or two... and a couple of them have been offered jobs.

True, I also was just advised of an upcoming interview with DAL. Comair pilots will not be in the majority however.
