Comair updates?
I just heard that the EFB thing might be happening now that DS is pursuing other opportunities. I think the FAA has already signed off on it. My source says that it may look like this:
Lido/eRouteManual - Lufthansa Systems
Lido/eRouteManual - Lufthansa Systems
I'm not real sure how realistic this would be. It just doesn't seem the Comair way. But with DS gone, the Comair way might just change. Who knows.
Of the other 121 carriers that utilize EFB, how does it work? Is it installed into the aircraft? Or is it portable? Do both pilots carry it? (seems like both would need to see it to shoot an approach)

That's fine, but I am talking about the understaff situation. I think he (DS) was an advocate for not recalling pilots because other pilots were picking up open time. Now that he is going to leave will that change? Like you said Comair decide on how many will come back. Just a thought.

I doubt we will see EFBs with the departure of DS. On the other hand, with him gone I could see a move to finally get ACARS. From what I have heard, we had the money in the budget to outfit all our airplanes with ACARS last year, but guess who shot that idea down?

As long as people will pick up EF the company will consider us properly staffed.
Doubt it. I don't see DL giving us the money to install ACARs, especially in the old 50s and leased airplanes.

Delta wants us to have ACARS, we had the money for ACARS, but DS said no. We even had to turn down flying into Calgary and Edmonton that Delta wanted us to do because we don't have ACARS. There are some holes in Atlanta radio up there and if you don't have ACARS you can't go.

Our flight attendants got new uniforms and wings in the months prior to the sale of Mesaba FYI. Not that it means anything though.

so does anyone expect that the company will not commit as many contract violations and be more likely to follow the work rules set out in our contract now that DS is gone? or is the relationship between pilots and management to far gone right now?

A major topic of concern is scheduling convenience vs. operational necessity. They need to bring pilots back if this airline is going to get better. Crews time out all over the place, flights have to be canceled due to staffing and we also have tons of mx issues with the 50s. We have to cover ASA flights when we can't even cover our own. We only have 9 f/as on reserve today who are good for 1 day trips..gmab. It is the MEC's hope now that Soaper is gone, Bendo will listen for a change.
