Interesting news
Pinnacle Was Interested in Buying Comair
Delta may be interested in keeping another WO regional around simply for leverage during contract negotiations with other carriers, but this could be bad news if that is not the case. Simply put, to the MBA's at Delta, the obvious answer would be an eventual shutdown/liquidation of Comair, so hopefully management sees the value in having a WO for the flexibility and leverage issues. It is just worrying that they tried to sell them for basically a bargin price, and failed to do so. This indicates that they may not be thinking of the issues I mentioned above and instead are focusing on immediate cost reductions, which of course is not good news.
FYI not trying to spread doom and gloom a la trailblazer, just wanted to share the article and hopefully generate some discussion about the possibilities. Delta management is not stupid, but they are notorious for rapidly changing their strategy at the last minute. So here's hoping for a good announcement today, hopefully a confirmation that comair is sticking around, and, barring that, an announcement of a sale.

I still stand by all post regarding Comair. This company is finished. However, there is talk of maybe, and I really mean maybe by a long shot, that Comair pilots might merge with Delta. This is really a long shot. Well see. Oh and by the way Asa is suppose to get another 16 700/900 aircraft soon.

So, looking at the Training/Transfer schedule. Some folks are transferring on Aug. 1 from JFK to CVG, incl. recalls that are starting class Aug. 1. Does that mean no hotel and no per diem now while in training, since they are technically CVG based? That sucks!

His/her "Comair's in trouble and will not be here next year!!" rant has worn thin with me. No s#@t sherlock...every pilot at Comair has thought that since at least 1999.
Trailblazer's predictions so far;
)Told us to "wake up and look for another job" because someone was bemoaning no recalls a couple months ago.Also;
)"You guys aren't going to like the news next week"...this was all before the recalls.
)ASA's new 70's were coming from Comair...oops!!.. they're coming from Horizon instead.
)The majority of the Freedom flying was going to ASA/Skywest...nope!
)ASA's recalling all furloughed and hiring 5 LCA's "for future growth"...it appears that's not the case.
)Delta had not given OH crew planning any winter forecasts because, "Delta has discontinued Comair flying after the summer schedules".
)Our pilots leaving Comair due to the imminent break-up would "...transfer over to Compass"
etc., etc....
Ya...he's a little Nostradamus, alright!
Delta has publicly stated that they want 4 or 5 DCI carriers.
I honestly think the 4-5 carriers are going to be:
Mesaba, Compass, Pinnacle, ASA and Skywest.
Every single one of those airlines has agreements through 2020.
Comair does not....I don't think this is a good sign at all.
