So I'm starting to realize it's dumb to bid A5 or A6 if you ever want to fly! Guys below & above me from my class got trips in Oct. already. I'm on the same days...only thing I can figure is that the report times are before my window. However, upon looking at them again, some of them got 4 days that have afternoon reports. Any insight on this, FTR?
Also, you mentioned that you don't know how many hours we have and we need to call if we get close to not making our 100 in 120. Well...why has everyone told me to hold onto my 75 hr log until I get 100+ so that I'll fly. Doesn't seem I'll fly either way. It's slowed significantly lately. I realize it's not your fault....just trying to get a better understanding of the system.
Ok, one more question...why is "weather" so commonly an excuse for not being able to release people? We're pilots....you're a pilot...we can all interpret radar, progs, & tafs...and see clear/blue everywhere west of CO. We know at 7pm before 4 hard days off that it odds of being called are crazy....yet I still can't legally get released to make my last flight home after I haven't seen my own house for 3+ weeks... Sorry to vent. Once again, you seem like a good guy....I'm just sitting bored at the crashpad and felt like a good rant.
Pantera - where can I get a sticker?

down2mins the A6 window has been pretty good for me I broke 75 hours credit the last 2 months and this month I had a chance accept a 17 hour 5 day kind of ruined being productive. Next month though I got stuck with 6 Readys and one trip at the end of the month on the A6. ftrpilot elluded to a change coming in the next few weeks any ideas on what this could be. We could start a good rumor but I would be happy with a copy of the contract or a new software system.

I think October is going to be better. At least for CVG. With all the unstaffed 70 flying, I think it is going to fall on the 50 reserves. 400 hours of open time, 2 full CD lines un awarded and only 2 FO's on reserve on the 70. I am starting to rethink my bidding reserve for October in CVG. I got all weekends off and my L2, but lines went to about 10 junior to me. Less flying, but QOL....I dunno. Maybe I will wait to bid for a line until after the holidays.

I think some of the # and ! flying can be a bit grey. I bid to fly for October, got 1 three day trip and 6 readys. A friend of mine bid to fly, is still !, and got 1 4 day trip. I saw another that was just normal reserve and got 6 readys. It just seems that you get what you get with your days available. If everyone bids JM, then it kind of contradicts itself because we're all back on the same list. So, it just seems that you get what you get....

That sucks do you commute on those long calls or sit in NY? That would SUCK to have to FLY in for a ready reserve... I dont have any for next month yet thank god, and I have gotten A trip for next month, so I think it helps not to have those readys in the middle of the week, then you can be put on say, a 3 day. In my case, "junior" people to me got it, bc I had a stupid ready
I was going to try to commute on the L1. But with the RR spaced so nicely through my month I'll be in ops or the crash pad.

Are you kidding A6 blows....... I flew like 10 hours this month, I'd like to who who broke guarentee on A6. Are you high mins FO? Captain? I am high mins and on a6 and flew like 10 hours...
I made the mistake of bidding A7 in the top few for next month for the sole reason that traffic is winding down around that time and I can make a 2 hour call from my HOUSE and not my REST STOP. Then I stalked sbs and saw that A7 is really bad if you want to fly, so I begged planning to switch it. When the windows came out I had all a7's and not one trip, and people several numbers behind me had basically lines with like a3 and stuff....
I am on a2 now, which will hopefully get me flying more. I need 31 hours in October to make my 120 days...... At least on A2 I can sit reserve at home til like 8, then go to the rest stop for rush hour times (like 8-10) and then can sit at home the rest.......... I can make calls EARLY morning, mid afternoon and late night, otherwise WELCOME TO THE REST STOP! HAHA.....
The Chow Id love to take your L1's from you consdaring you are going to be in NY, youd prob fly more on my A2s but I need to fly for that 120 days. Also at our t9 training event they told us to put in some add drop trades to switch windows if available, so I do for long calls. I never get them and then they pop up on very junior peoples schedules and look like this A5 L1 A5 L1.... makes me mad because I KNOW that junior person is sitting at their crashpad and dont give a rats ass if they are on long or short call bc they have to sit there anyway when it would be HIGHLY beneficial for those of us who live in the New York area given the crazy traffic around here..... Its just funny how it works out... They sit in the crashpad on L1 in queens wanting to fly (they prob wont) and I mingle with truckers at the rest stop and make the the people mad at panera bc ive been using their free internet for 6 hours and only bought a cup of coffee.......
How nice would it be to save the tank of gas an 17 dollars in tolls to drive up there to sit long call just ONE DAY! okay enough *****ing!

Paok,
It has no ryhme or reason. I had a6 with the high time mark though I turned in my 100 hr paperwork the first week of August. I picked up some EF on some days off and still credited 78 hours of regular time on an A6 window in September. What was your start date I have been trying to get A7 for the same reason and have not been able to get it I am driving down from Columbus.. If you are still within 120 days and getting a7 are you at JFK? It makes no sense but I have been flying. I dont mind it but I would love to secure LC or A7. Classmates at JFK who started in March are on reserve with multiple trips in all sorts of windows.

Question
Okay I have been going through the numbers and trying to figure out where I stand in Kennedy. This month I move up 2 numbers (October). Nov 1st, 12 people transfer in ahead of me, and 26 LEAVE that are below me.... so that stinks. However on 12/1 another 30 people below me leave... It sounds to me like I will be on reserve forever, does think sound correct? Just trying to figure things out.... Maybe with the additional flying and SO FEWER FO's it will def mean more flying and maybe even some pre scheduled trips, but I am beginning to think I will really be on reserve for a long time. Is my math right?
