It won't surprise me if they hire more than the 240 they're advertising. Europe markets are slowly emerging (with the exception of Greece at the moment, and maybe a couple of other countries in the brink), and the CAL/UAL merger puts a damper on DL/NW hold on Asia and pretty much anything west of California. So my thinking is DL/NW my grow a bit more than portrayed (specially to compete in Asia). 240 will barely cover attrition.
Also I think other companies will "hire" for different reasons. One article I found interesting in the May issue of ATW had a paragraph stipulating how AA has a much larger amount of crew members over 60 than under 40. Talk about attrition when those folks have to retire. Airtran has begun to interview, and I think JetBlue is coming to that point also. Movement is coming.......again, just my opinions.
Anyhow Makers, are you from the west coast (CO, CA maybe), and if so, were you in a crashpad owned by RM from JetBlue?.

I am in AZ. Though I am officially a JFKer, I've never really been based there since I've been on ML for 2 years now. Actually, I've probably been in and out of JFK less than 10 times. Love LGA, hate JFK. My crashpad is still in Cincitucky.

I feel sorry for those guys that made a commitment to NYC, buying property that they must now maintain even though they'll be living either in CVG or DTW.

Or those that bought in CVG, MCO, GSO...

Live where you want, and feel safe in the knowledge that at some point, your commute will totally suck.

Comair is recalling. Phone calls have been going out. I was about 40 away from recall and got a call. Best of luck to everyone!

I don't joke about people's livelihood. I am telling the truth. I will also not be going back to Comair, so that's one extra opening, I suppose....

They are calling 100 or recalling a 100... i would say that is a big difference especially if there is a 50% acceptance rate.
