Same as everyone else, I hear that DTW will open Sept. 1. Only the union guys seem to talk about the 70/90 going to NYC, management side don't think it'll happen.

Mesa decision only takes the heat off our 50s, not expected to mean any new flying for us.

Bendo has turned down flying, but the official explanation is that it was so temporary, we'd have to furlough any recalls within months of calling them back.

rumors are flying, but we should hear soon what's real and what isn't...

Well if that temporary flying turns into permanent flying who will probably keep doing it?

The one who stepped up and did it.

It's a risk I think they should take.

They've done it before. When I upgraded in Spring 2008, they hired 300 FOs in anticipation of getting some of Mesa's CRJ 900s. Soaper came into class and told us we'd all be lineholders by that Christmas. He was right - I was back in the right seat holding a line by Dec. 1st.

With that exception, Comair has almost always done the minimum required and usually waits too long to adjust staffing shortages. It's been years since I've had flying added in the middle of a trip, but it's happened twice in the last three weeks. I checked reserve staffing at 5 am to make sure there were no reserves who could cover it. That day, they had an A7 and an LC1 for JFK, and an LC2 in CVG. Every other reserve was out flying. I'm actually amazed they're not canceling more flights for lack of crews. I heard that on Derby weekend, they had 400 sick calls (for 1500 active crew members). Apparently the Derby and Halloween get the most sick calls, but it still set a record.

They were going to hire 300 but didn't even come close to hiring that many, I don't think they even hired 100 in all of 2008, I think there is less then 1100 active, with 400 sick calls how many flights were canceled?

Now that you've shown your qualifications, it's not like you're telling us what a grenade is. We can find out what a grenade is, and if you've ever thrown one you'd know what the blast radius was. These are all verifiable using real-world sources.

What you're saying is more like "if a goblin and a troll had a fight the troll would win. I can't tell you how I know, but trust me because I know that I'm right" No evidence, no sources.

That's why everyone is asking where you came across your info. Everyone here knows Comair is circling the bowl, but you start throwing out dates and fleet numbers and Compass and AS(A) and all kinds of imaginary details.

If you really knew anything about Comair, you'd know that you need to change your story every couple weeks anyway.

Looks like you have a teaching job waiting for you when Comair shuts down. Good for you. You will make a great English teacher..

Amend that - apparently Bendo was in JFK saying that the 70/90 would be moving to NYC, even though Delta had second thoughts after the LGA gate swap got shot down again.

Time will tell.

Not the answer. Encouraging to call in sick is a bad call.

But if you have had a reduced rest you might be feeling ill or fatigued. But don't do it to "teach them a lesson"

And don't "screw over the company" just don't pick up open time etc.

20 year captains having to decided wether to commute to the "heavy" or fly "that POS 50 seater" again. I love it.

No ATP for the checkride, because Comair won't do it unless it is actually required (and there is too much airline money fighting against that).
They could bring back the rest of the 1/09 furloughs and give them the same 3 weeks as the ones in training now.
Not missing anything if you never have a DS sighting. "Our cost are too high. Our senior pilots cost too much. Our FA's are paid too much. Merger, maybe. DTW, maybe." these are the DS words of wisdom.
