He gave me this look like I cussed him out. This guy DOES NOT LIKE COMAIR PERIOD. He also did not answer my question then looked at me and saw I had my Comair gear on. That did it. I then asked him " Do you see Comair merging with Mesaba or someone else?" He says "NO, I DON'T THINK SO. NOT AT ALL." He was keenly focused on my Comair gear. A buddy of mine working today also went to this meeting and yes we were uninvited guest. When he saw him in his gate uniform with the Comair gear on, he got the same look too. Draw your own conclusions. I'm not saying a thing about what this means for Comair. |

I can't imagine the numbers at CVG are worse than any of the other hubs. RA also denied the DL/NW merger right up until the day it happened. "We will remain separate, stand alone companies". He sung this tune daily right up until it was officially announced. He said this publicly, in memos to employees and on Travelnet. Then one day "oh, by the way, we're merging with NW".
I don't put any stock in anything any airline CEO says...ever. Mostly because they are lying, not telling the whole truth, stretching the truth or covering up the truth. Any way you slice it, they are full of it. |
I have a feeling CVG and MEM will become focus cities just like IND is/was for NW. There may or may not be any crew bases there but there will still be a large presence with both mainline and regional feed that could connect out all over the country with out being sent through a large hub. There is also some very good business traffic in both of these cities that I don't think Delta is going to give up.

As for Comair's futures, who knows. I'm happy to see an increase in block hours for next month, but will it last into Summer and Fall? I think we will continue to see more shuffling around in the DCI system. Pinnacle will be starting to fly -200s in/out of ATL. Comair continues to add more flights out of DTW which will be joined by CHQ soon. SkyWest will see more flights operated out of MSP and everyone is still waiting to hear what's going to happen in LGA. I think we are all hoping for recalls, but in order for this to happen, the numbers have to be there for the next several months. |
Am hearing rumors that flight bennies are going back to the way they were. Any truth to that?
