Now some real facts:)
From the Web Chat ******** (Jan 12, 2010 10:30:55 AM) What are the plans for the cities that currently have SAAB340 Turbo Prop aircraft? Will they be replaced with Jet Service? Richard Anderson (Jan 12, 2010 10:30:55 AM) Yes, RJ 50-seaters. |

That is the question over here at Mesaba, we will be down to around 23 or so by December 2010. A lot of the cities we go to are never full on the Saab, it will be interesting to see 5 people on a CRJ to Devils Lake, ND. Also, we are looking at 75 (approx.) more furloughs for 2010. Lots of questions....

RA also talked about Comair and ASA performance numbers. He said that Comair performance is affected by ATC cancellations requested by Delta. He stated that ASA performance needs to me improved.

Richard Anderson, CEO of Delta Airlines, stated in a press release today, "We are happy to be merging the operations of Comair and Mesaba into one wholly owned entity. It will allow us to save money by consolidating both airlines, closing Comair's general offices and maintenance facilities in Cincinnati and moving essential personnel to MSP, where they will integrate with Mesaba's personnel, already in place. This new, yet to be named, airline will provide a valuable service to our customers, by providing a seamless transition from mainline to regional flights." When asked about, the now defunct, Mesa Airlines, Mr. Anderson said, "We are sad to see any airline go out of business, but we see no need to replace the lift from Freedom Airlines (a subsidirary of Mesa Airlines). These flights were mainly to serve the Cincinnati market, and since we (Delta) are scaling back CVG operations, the lift is no longer needed." An unnamed source in Atlanta, Georgia was quoted as saying, "I told ya so!"

Would this be an EAS route or a route that would simply be dropped then? I cannot imagine 5 people, although a rough number, would be enough to keep DAL flying such a route....
