That is the question over here at Mesaba, we will be down to around 23 or so by December 2010. A lot of the cities we go to are never full on the Saab, it will be interesting to see 5 people on a CRJ to Devils Lake, ND. Also, we are looking at 75 (approx.) more furloughs for 2010. Lots of questions....

"Comair president, John Bendoritis, announced today that the company's maintenance department will be merged with the maintenance department of Mesaba Airlines, Delta's other wholly owned subsidiary. Mr. Bendoritis said, "This is a huge step forward in the efforts of Delta Airlines to completely merge both companies into one wholly owned regional airline." Richard Anderson, CEO of Delta Airlines, stated in a press release today, "We are happy to be merging the operations of Comair and Mesaba into one wholly owned entity. It will allow us to save money by consolidating both airlines, closing Comair's general offices and maintenance facilities in Cincinnati and moving essential personnel to MSP, where they will integrate with Mesaba's personnel, already in place. This new, yet to be named, airline will provide a valuable service to our customers, by providing a seamless transition from mainline to regional flights." When asked about, the now defunct, Mesa Airlines, Mr. Anderson said, "We are sad to see any airline go out of business, but we see no need to replace the lift from Freedom Airlines (a subsidirary of Mesa Airlines). These flights were mainly to serve the Cincinnati market, and since we (Delta) are scaling back CVG operations, the lift is no longer needed." An unnamed source in Atlanta, Georgia was quoted as saying, "I told ya so!"

I am not sure of the breakdown of EAS vs. Non-EAS, what we have seen so far though is that Delta has drastically overbid on all the EAS cities out of MSP that were up for bid. This resulted in Skywest starting service to cities such as Eau Claire and Marquette etc....
