Default GPS Question

The FSM states to check the availability of RAIM if using a GPS approach? So how do actually do this check and when should this check be performed?

Thank you,

The Chow

You should do an active check of the RAIM before departing and before entering the terminal area. Go to the index page and then GPS control. Put in the airport your going too and then estimated time. It will then tell you if you are going to have the RAIM. I am not sure but you may only need to check it before departing if your going to use an RNAV departure.
