I mean the only way to go is down, so we're either going to loose a hell of a lot more hours or we're going to be loosing some airframes to another DCI carrier.
So, basically we can count on nothing happening, then? Every time there is a supposed "big announcement", it ends up being something like new carpet being put in the CEO's office or they are switching from Bic pens in the supply cabinet to Eberhard Faber #2 pencils.

If there is an "announcement" about something for us, it would have to be a reduction in flight hours as they can not transfer any aircraft to other DCI carriers unitl 2011, when our minimum fleet agreement has expired.

Besides, how much worse can things possibly get? It is no secret that we are getting a bigger percentage of our flights being axed than any other DCI carrier out there and I would expect the cuts to continue short of something drastic happening like some mysterious sale to another airline, the economy suddenly rebounding, the former mechanic and van driver that are running this freak show have some super secret growth plan up their sleeve, or some sort of merger. Otherwise, we're toast.

Check, please!

I know several of us have discussed that minimum fleet agreement. What specifically is our minimum fleet numbers? I know the 900's aren't counted in the agreement. As of now we're at 83 CRJ's, 15 CR7's , and 13 CR9's. Three more 50 seaters are going back to leassor by the end of the year.

Red Alert for Comair Commuters.
This morning I walked up to the gate to commute for my four day trip and rather than seeing 20 empty seats (which I saw on travelnet last night), I saw all zeros. The Delta MD80 was completely full.

I looked around to see if there were other Delta or Comair pilots who would have thier hands on the jumpseat. I didn't see any other pilots except for freedom (Mesa).

I approached the Gate counter and asked "Have any other Delta or Comair pilots checked in for the jumpseat?"

The response was no.... and I handed over my ID and passport. I assumed that Mesa no longer requests the jumpseat since they fall behind DAL, Comair, Mesaba and Compass according to the memo that came out 6 or 8 weeks ago.

I walk down the jetway, and they clear exactly two non rev's behind me. A comair guy (works in the GO) and his son. He told me that the three Freedom pilots were *****ing out the gate agent because one of them was there first and they believed it is fist come first serve.

I walked back up the jetway to politely explain that this isn't the case and rather than hearing me out. One of the three Mesa guys yelled that it was first come first serve as of June 1st.

The gate agent said that she would look it up, but she knew what the jumpseat priorty was and that I was right.

Anyone who uses DAL as a commuting option needs to be aware that FALSE information is spreading like wildfire at Mesa/Freedom. I am unaware as to weather they are uninformed, wrongly informed by thier company, or outright lying.

I have called our CP office and I am attempting to get a copy of that Memo again .... to photocopy and distribute to MCO gate agents.

I have apologized to MESA, CHQ, etc Jumpseaters on my airplane to make room for Delta pilots. It seems like most people know the game and play it. What happend this morning was an abberation.... but one that I do not want to see multiply. You know, if you tell a lie often enough... people start believing its true. I dont want DAL gate agents to start thinking that first come first serve is how we assign the JS now.

You are very right. According to the Delta FOM page 4-3.12 wholly owned DC carriers are H-1 priority and non wholly owned DC carriers are H-2 priority for the jumpseat. If you run into this issue again the captain will be able to confirm your priority with the FOM. Good Luck

Since when do Mesa/Freedom people started to believe they have "rights" in other companies when they don't even have nor fight for any at their own company?. Some of these people are just plain dellusional.

I think the best part of this story is that you actually thought there would be 20 seats. It's Delta, there was a rain shower the other day, and everything is messed up. I was going to nonrev to BOS from south FL on Saturday. Friday night there were some storms and everything went to pot at Delta. The 6AM canceled out of here Saturday morning and that made the rest of the day impossible, with all flight -15 to -25. If I did make it out, I'd be stuck in ATL, and God knows I hate that place. Oh well, stayed home and drank some cool adult beverages.

Hey, getting ever so close to that 15K mark! Keep it rolling!

To anyone in dispatch that happens to read this: Good job sending an aircraft JFK-BOS-RDU with a broken pack on Saturday! I'm sure all those passengers will rush right out and travel on Delta again soon! NOT! With a full flight on both of those legs, temp in the cabin hovered around 90-93 the whole time. Good job Comair! 2.5 hr block (BOS-RDU)and in the 90's, I'm sure there was some swamp butt going on in that plane

Actually, flight control routes the aircraft to particular flights, not dispatch. But no, I'm not defending the decision to do something like that...
