I'd sell my "1 year Anniversary" pin, but I never got one of those. I'd sell my 30th anniversary t-shirt and poster... but I never got those either. Seems to me that I got the shaft... ending on January 19th.

Actually, wait... no. I haven't been able to find work yet either. The shaft continues.

Holy crap ATL was hosed yesterday! My buddy just got back from 9 months in Iraq and his wife threw him a party last night...which I was not in attendance as planned! Of course can't fly out of CVG since they've cut the SAN flights back to ONE and it doesn't leave until 8PM. The only way ot get me there was through ATL. Got up early yesterday morning and checked the loads for my flights and all had more than 15 seats. Got to the airport to check in and it was a mob scene. I decided to blow out my S2s. Got on the flight to ATL no problem I was #1 on the list. Got to ATL and it was an even bigger mob scene! I started out #5 on the flight to SAN, but as the time got closer to boarding I was constantly moving down the list and the seats were disappering. Ended up #15 and didn't get on. Headed to the gate for next SAN flight; look up at the monitor and I'm 32 on the list! I went up and talked with one of the gate agents to see what was going on. I guess the weather in the midwest and up in ORD was causing havoc on Delta's schedule. Flights were getting in late and passengers were missing their connections, He said it had started to snowball the previous evening. The agent pretty must advised me to head back to CVG as that all flights out of ATL were pretty much oversold and the standby lists were growing each minute. I stuck it out till they closed the flight and pretty much figued I wasn't going to get to San Diego in time for my friends party and really didn't feel like sticking it out and getting stuck in ATL. I got rebooked to come back to CVG which turned out to be a pain in the butt. All flights to CVG were oversold as well. Looked like I was going end up sticking it out in ATL anyway! Mother nature and Shuttle America saved my butt. The aircraft for the flight I was listed for was enroute to ORD and had to divert to IND due to weather in ORD. The departure time for this flight was 2:55PM but was delayed till 6:30. Well the weather was still iffy in ORD so they got us another aircraft and a put a crew together in ATL. Since no one wanted to see if the flight would make it or cancel they all moved over to the later CVG flights which were departing before our flight. We finally made it home close to 9PM and the Comair customer service agents thought it's be a good time to train on the jet bridge! All five took turns; laughed and had a good time during the 10 minutes it took to attach the jetway to the plane.

If it had been after next Tuesday, it would have been a complete nighmare to try and nonrev. With the reduction in seat capacity, it doesn't take long or much for the flight loads to go into the crapper. I'm not looking forward to this one bit!

Bubba, sorry to hear that. For the things you just stated, I decided long ago to buy a ticket if I'm going somehwere. After 14 years, the whole non-rev dance got to me. Only used my passes when going to work. The worst part in your case is you lost an S2 for no reason, and you didn't get to see your friend. Agree with you, not looking forward to the new S3ZZZ priority boarding crap we get now (if I were still working).

Agreed. In the last twelve months, we've spent over $24,000 on airfare...and less than ten percent of it was given to Delta.

My favorite Delta slogan to date:

Good Goes Around

Currently going through the process/paperwork to get into Coast Guard OCS, and if I get lucky, get into flight school.

When I got furloughed I started going around to the local executive airports seeing if anyone needed planes detailed or cars wash. I started detailing a Gulfstream IV for a family. After about a month of doing that I had gotten to know the crew pretty well (2 pilots and a flight attendant). In March they realized they were going to have trouble covering a trip in June due to some crew vacation. They called me in to detail the plane one day, the next morning I was on airtran on my way to training. They contracted me through September when the new budget is due. Hopefully the owner will give me an extension!

Flying for a start-up in the Middle East, with an upgrade offer just put on the table. Pay is good, but lifestyle sucks worse than commuting/crashing in JFK any day. Even on a bad day, though, it is better than an unemployment check.

Commuting is going to suck worse with the new non-rev detriments and Delta shutting down the CVG int'l base. I heard that Paris will be the only int'l flight from CVG after August.

Good luck to those still hunting for flying jobs.
