its like that everyday. yesterday at 9am they had only 3 people left, by the end of the day only 2 people without an assignment. How is it even possible to operate and airline like that. I know we have to be cnx flights due to lack of crews. I mean these are perfect weather days.
Have you all heard about how the company tried to get a Flight Attendant to put a ticket from EWR to IAH this morning on her own credit card? I'm calling horse **** on that one. What is this place coming to? They also called her early and asked her to report 30 minutes later. (The company had over 48 hours to have a flight attendant ready this morning for a flight from IAH to JFK and called this poor girl at 4:30 this morning to displace her. She said the flight went out late while waiting for her to arrive on a Continental flight.)
Heard 20 something FA's quit already since May 1st.
Talked to a few guys today in CVG that didn't make their second attempt to get to JFK.
How many cancellations were there yesterday? Some were probably do to weather, but others were probably due to being understaffed, mismanaged flight crews and pure incompetence of the schedulers.
Rant over.

Woah... easy there. I know blaming the scheduler's "imcompetence" is always the most popular thing, but there was a lot more to it. They had a last minute sick/FM/fatigue call in Texas, and couldn't get anyone there for the report. Being a CR9, one FA doesn't cut it. And, I was told the company was buying the ticket, so the "her own credit card" thing isn't legit. In fact, quite a few people stayed very late just to get that whole thing set up, since it was something that doesn't happen very often. After all my defending, I'm quite glad to not have to deal with these sort of things anymore.
What are you doing? You are ruining it!! The truth is never as much fun as the rumour!!

I got wondering about how many people are in bad standing with the union after seeing the election email. It said there were only 764 eligible pilots. So with somewhere around 1080 pilots 326 couldn't vote. Who else can't vote besides bad standing, new hires which there are none and management?
With a whopping 36 people voting its good knowing ALPA is strong at comair

Comair’s Idea of Properly Staffed:
Use every reserve pilot and FA every day
Move every reserve pilot and FA soft day off so they cannot plan anything outside of work
Fly every reserve pilot and FA a minimum of 70 hours per month but not to exceed 76 hours per month
Junior man 5 to 10 pilots and FA’s per day to remind them that holding a line does not mean anything
Cancel 3% to 4% of flights everyday due to lack of crews
