They are going to have to furlough another few hundred, close CVG, and get some sort of stability, i.e. no growth, but no loss of flying either, before I consider my predictions true. Then they will just recall for attrition. Maybe even open a few more small bases in the Northeast to take the load off of JFK. BOS, LGA, and DCA? Maybe. Doubt it will happen like that or anytime soon, but there ya go. At the very least I think they will stabilize significantly below 1,000 pilots before they will be able to turn around. What happened to Mesaba and/or Air Wisconsin, a few years ago, are good examples of what will likely happen.

Ah, but your living in a post-merger world now. All the Comair ground people will not be Comair anymore (RHS) and then they will furlough more aircrews and get it down to an easier to manage number of employees. When this happens, it will be merged with Mesaba and be called something stupid like "AirAlliance" This will be an easier to manage wholly owned subsiderary of Delta.
Oh, by the way....
RHS?

If any of you guys are furloughed and live in Texas, give me a PM. A friend and myself are working with a state employee trying to get funding from WIA for a type rating. Supposedly they have not provided any money for anyone in an aviation field for the past 5 or 6 years and if we can get some more on board we might be able to get that changed.

Does anybody from the Oct, Nov or Jan furloughs want to volunteer to talk to Eagle Scouts on the 25th? The CP's office is looking for volunteers to help mentor these young scouts into respectable airline pilots! Check EPIC for details.

I'll do it for a small money donation or canned foods donation towards the CRJDriver furlough Fund.

Could one or more of you unfortunate Comair brothers or sisters on the street PM with the in's and out's of unemployment.

For example: Where did you apply for benefits? I'm based in JFK and live in another state, but Comair is headquartered in KY???

If someone out there was in my position, and you have contact numbers and where to go. Please PM with the information.

Apply for unemployment first in your state of residence. I danced with KY unemployment for two months before they told me this. In other words, where you pay your taxes. The state you have on file with Comair. Then you have to be very clear to them when you file that you were based in New York, but you were also trained in Kentucky. They have to request wages from Kentucky and New York for them to get an accurate statement for your unemployment. Highly recommend you do this in person, if possible.

I'm receiving unemployment through the state of KY. I checked with my home state first, and they told me to file in KY because that's were my wages were reported to (I was CVG based). Pretty simple and painless process to file in KY.
