All capitals eh? Why are you yelling at me? I always treat scheduling with the utmost respect, the way I want to be treated. Even the newbies!

I have no problem as long as it is within the contract. However, the contract doesn't cover everything and it is prone to reinterpretation, which the company likes to do.

We have some decent schedulers now, they are for the most part pleasant to talk to. When I was first hired we had some real gems, If you ever talked to Mansu, you know what I mean.

Silly Scheduler story:

Delayed flight and we are waiting for CA, No ready reserves as it is about 10pm and no flights are left, so they have to call a captain from home. So he won't be at work for at least 90 minutes, then another 30-40 till he is at the plane.

The FA tells me she is going to time out in 80 minutes. I tell her to call scheduling so they can get another FA on the way, so we can avoid waiting longer. Crew Scheduler tells the FA to call her back when she actually times out. I talk to crew scheduler, who says she won't do anything til the FA actually times out.

Ok well 80 minutes later the FA times out. No FA's on Ready Reserve, so they have to page one from home, great another cumulative 2 hours that scheduling delayed the flight. CA shows up 25 minutes after FA has timed out. We wait for new FA till almost 130am.

We could have mitigated the Delay had the crew scheduler done the right thing and just got a reserve when it was readily apparent she wasn't gong to be able to go.

The big picture is hard to see on those green and black screens on the 1970's Apple computers that Comair provides.

You can call and see if they have any for you to pick up, if you really want it. Did it yesterday.

thanks no we dont control it see to many people get confused over who controls what. I awarded it to 5 people today.

the story is a typical one but at the same time it cant always be helped she times out she times out we cant do everything, we cant control who is fatigue who is sick who has a death in the family its largely out of are hands we have to make do with what we got and it is what it is. Please I welcome anyone to come and sit with me any day an see why we do what we do.
