I have been hearing that Delta is willing to forgo receiving their last payment for ASA's sale in order to decrase capacity at SkyWest and ASA and allows them to get rid of a lot of the 50 seaters that are owned by Delta.
There will be lots of details about where things are heading, that will be coming out on the 9th from the Delta Shareholders meeting.

Other than Freedom finally going away or maybe cutting ASA out of ATL (in spite of the "contract"), I'm not so sure Delta will be going after a DCI carrier. The memo simply states "domestic capacity" and with Delta and Northwest finally one carrier, there is a lot of capacity that can be cut, even at the mainline level. I realize Delta has made it known that they no longer value 50-seat aircraft, but maybe that has moved to the backburner in favor of other routes/aircraft that are bleeding cash with this latest update.

Then again, it's quite possible Delta is not disclosing every detail of this latest cut, to keep a somewhat steady operation going at Comair through the holiday season.

Just listened to that memo. Sounds like the new president is trying to send out a thank you during his first address to his employees while also trying to keep people from jumping ship. Kind of expected this though. He wouldn't come out during his first message and tell everyone that he doesn't see good things for us on the horizon. Talked to RP the other day in regards to the memo that was put out about staffing. He didn't really say when we would settle to the magic number, but he said it was around 1054 pilots. 390 CRJ CAs, 365 CRJ FOs, 153 CR7 CAs and 146 CR7 FOs. That is the total number of pilots on the seniority list including anyone on leave. I see this economy getting worse before it gets any better, so the real question is if 6 year FOs and 10 Year CAs feel like being the bottom of the barrel for the next year or so until the world catches it's breathe.

Back in the day 35,000 Cincy hours meant 35,000 Comair hours, but I guess Delta saw the error of that in 2001.

Yeah, that's what I meant. I remember when ACA started flying the 328's in there, I knew things were going to go downhill.

I just noticed that as of 1Q 2009, except for that little upstart Compass...

Comair will have the smallest fleet of any airline flying for DCI.

And it's still true if you count SKW and ASA as separate companies.

At the historical rate of Compass growth and Comair shrinkage, Compass will be as big as Comair in 1 year and 10 months.

"For January the overall block hours dropped substantially which does play a part on the outcome of our pairing solutions, however, even with the total block hours dropping we were able to maintain the same type of trip distribution and productivity as offered to you in December. We will continue to focus on improving in these two areas."

Just pulling this up from one year ago (12/07/2007)...

Compare to 10,704 hours in January 2009 and Driver's frown should get a lot worse:

Is there nothing that a Star Wars reference can't make better? I think not!

Freedom has 30 planes you plan on them not being DCI come 2009?
