RAH - Teamsters
XJT - ALPA

Having gone from Colgan to Republic, I'd have to say the biggest improvement is their no junior manning policy.

Right now it seems that about half the RW classes are getting PHL. The other half is a mix of DCA/PIT. I'm headed back to sims tomorrow in STL for the 170. Not being prior 121, I would say that the Indoc covers the basics for 121 ops. I wouldn't say it was overly challenging. I hear the CHQ side is quite a bit for strenuous.

Hey all,

I recently just got a phone call and have been scheduled for an interview at Republic on September 5th. Anyone else going on the 5th? Also, if anyone can give me any advice, I would greatly appreciate it.

I am an Ass. Chief Instructor (big title, not much different) at Moore Aviation at BVI with about 1200TT but only about 40 multi. I am hoping for the 170 so I could get based at PIT, but we'll see.

Thanks guys,

TRG

Read the gouge at aviationinterviews.com. Realize that they want to hire you. Come prepared, don't be a tool, and you'll be fine. Don't be surprised if you get the sim ride, so be ready for that as well. How the dice are thrown with respect to certificate assignments is a mystery. Make it known that you are from the PIT area and would like to be able to stay local. If they have slots open for multiple certificates, that might swing the pendulum. Good luck!

I've been hearing this one a lot recently and I'm a little confused. When i went through initial training, I would not have described it as overly difficult. A lot of information...sure...but nothing that you couldn't learn by studying a couple hours that night. A lot of our guys left almost every weekend (myself included) or found "other" things to do on the weekends then simply studying the entire time. Any new 145 drivers care to comment?

With only 40 multi, you'll need to have a good reason why you will be able to pass training on a jet. Your reason should put even the biggest skeptic at ease. Realize there is tons of help through training. I had only 320 multi with 200 in turboprops and 100 as PIC in 135 ops, and they had the same question for me. If you have a college degree, it shows you can educate yourself. This is a plus. If you are a quick learner, this is also a plus. Good luck.

I've been out of training for almost 6 months. I didn't at all think the CHQ stuff was strenuous. I have no other airline training to back that up with, but it was no more strenuous than the part 135 training I did. There is a TON of stuff that gets jammed into a short period of time, and you won't remember all of it; neither do the other guys. If you have no experience with anything other than flight instruction, there will be lots of subjects that you will have no clue on, but you will be fine if you pay attention, ask questions, and read/re-read what is covered. Jet systems aren't like Seminole systems, but there again, it is definitely doable with a little study. So read this whole thing as if you read the topics to be covered beforehand, pay attention in class with notetaking and questions, and re-read the topic after class, you'll be fine.
