What got me through barbie jet school was a good instructor, my captain sim partner, positive attitude, and long days studing my a$$ off.
I guess I work at a desent airline that gives you a good environment to suceed in.
But what do i know haha

Not true, we use FSI sims only, and this is only for the time being, catch up time that is.

For what its worth the Republic training was very straight forward one guy did not make it out of 15 and that was in IOE. They treated you like professional adults, telling you what you need to know.
I have never been anywhere that put FOs and Captains together, there are simply not enough pairs to do this with at an airline growing like ours is. This should not be a hugh deal as the FO's are not required to know the captain flows. You pick them up by the time your finished but its not a hugh flow situation.
That being said I've heard the 145 training is like basic at Beufort. You don't need to know how many compressors are in the engine, your not going to fix it! It really does not matter what a molecule of air is doing as it passes through a jet engine. This crap was all well and good 30 years ago which is unfortunatly when these programs were put together.
You have to have your head in it though and the prior 121 pilots may be coming in a little to cocky. Who knows, its a shame to see it happen though. We need the crews and they need the jobs.

I am surprised that lateral move 121 pilots have been failing your course of training... I wonder if any Skywest sim instructors are lurking out there and can weigh-in on lateral move new-hires? Perhaps they fall into the trap of thinking they can cruise through without having to study... OOPS!
Could you find out if there is a pattern, like if it's V1 cuts or electrical systems knowledge?

They have these kinds of robots everywhere. Makes training hell, and even unfair. Who can learn/pass a ride with someone screaming at them?

Scott was more than fair on my checkride, and from what I hear everyone else's.
He even gave one guy 2 chances on the single engine go-around on his RE-CHECK after failing once, getting more training and messing it up the first time when he came back.
He is differently not out to fail people, but he wants to make sure you know what you are doing.
His major problem though is that he thinks the 145's QRH (that he wrote) is perfect like it was handed down from God when in reality it is one of the worst and un-user friendly in the industy.

i hope you know all the callout prior to sim... i think the biggest problem is that you can know the callouts sitting in a paper sim but when bells and sirens and those two stupid buttons in front of you are flashing...things seem to change. advice to those with sim rides, do something that is very distracting and be able to do all your callout while performing that function i.e. juggle tennis balls while doing all your callouts. have fun all
