Quick PIC Turbine time...

2 years right now for Skywest, which is still a bit too long. Plus in all likely hood, with all the hiring they've done, it will be more than 2 yrs in 2 yrs from now.
I'm really looking for a year or less upgrade, but would consider something in the 18 month ballpark. And if the job was an immediate LA base, I might push to 2 years...maybe.
Thanks.

Mesa has been kicked out of eden (the west), and appears to be in a death spiral...upgrades are heading in the wrong direction (pushing 4 years I think). Plus it's mesa...
SKW upgrades will be slowing significantly (unless more growth arrives), plus the Cali bases are more senior anyway.
XJet is junior in cali only cuz the workforce is mostly easterners and the LAX and ONT bases opened unexpectedly and recently...I doubt they will stay that junior.
CHQ/Republic might be able to offer 18 month upgrades for someone hired today, but not in the west.
If you have narrowbody time and really just need the PIC (I assume you are a furloughed major airline FO) then a turboprop job is probably your best bet, maybe 135 or corporate.

Of the regionals Pinnacle and Trans States seem to have the quickest upgrades if you have around ATP requirements. But tomorrow the time to upgrade could change drastically, just think of how much it has changed everywhere within the past month.

What about your current company? I guess it probably isn't too good or you wouldn't be asking the question. If you have been in the airline world for a few years it might be tough to get to the corp. side unless you network the hell out of yourself.
Gulfstream hires street captains but you are going to be essentially single pilot. My advice would be become an airport bum again on days off and get some contacts in the FBO world. Problem is, they will almost all want you typed, especially for PIC. It seems they don't want to put anyone through school anymore.
What are you on now?

ShortBus.
The best time with a FAST upgrade(about a year), a lot of jet time (4 nights a week) is or should I be saying "was" flying checks in Learjets!! It is turning into a thing of the past like the DC-6s. I did it and walked away with ALOT of pic jet time in 4 years!!
Good luck with the hunt.

A lot of skydiving centers in the west operate caravans and otters, not glamorous flying, but turbine PIC. Check around, with your times, you could probably start in the caravan and move to the otter within a year.
