DAY is very senior. You will flow before you hold a line at DAY - right now it takes just under 5 years to hold a round 1 line at PSA for captains at any base. So you will be on reserve your whole career at PSA. PBS will change all of this but not sure the new length of time it will take to hold a line with PBS, roughly the same I would assume

Republic is giving $60K bonus with just a 1 year commitment. $30K after IOE and then $30K after year 1 and you can leave, no strings attached and then if you stay there is another $40K after year 2. Better bonus structure than the AA Regionals since they do not give retention bonuses anymore for new hires.

Thanks for the info on DAY, thats helpful. Figured it might be senior. It sounds like the bonus offers are changing all of the time- I haven't heard anything about one year commitment at Republic or any changes un the AA regional bonuses, and the websites are not all exactly clear about it.

I still can’t the new pay rates published anywhere for Republic, other than general statements about % increases….

Reach out to each and ask the recruiters questions

I posted this elsewhere but these are Republic rates. QOL will likely be much better living in base and no junior manning. Just not sure when you could get a class date.

Default DEC at Piedmont

I'm happy in my present non-airline job, but this $100K signing bonus, paid in the FIRST PAYCHECK at Piedmont, gets my attention. I did many years of 121 flying, mostly as captain, and I do miss free airline travel and other 121 benefits, and my starting pay beyond the bonus would be over $200 an hour (I'm told). So, if you are working for Piedmont as a captain and are reading this, here's your assignment: talk me out of it. I would live very close to my base -- no commuting. What's the company like? Good folks to work for? Company culture ok? I'm starting here with zero knowledge. Fill me in.

Piedmont is a workhorse company. Min days off for 75hrs months of pay and 60hrs block time is the norm. QOL is rough compared to every other AA Wholly Owned airline and the equipment is older. Good crews to fly with for the most part- the majority of the unsafe and temperamental captains have retired or flowed to AA to become someone else’s problem. Management style from the DO is to presume guilt until you can prove your innocence, which trickles down to the CPs who aren’t using the job as a check in the box. Training department is good. Pay is always messed up for somebody, scheduling and dispatch are under staffed and under paid. Interactions with the ground and gate staff ranges from awesome to awful and usually leans towards the later in the hubs. Piedmont is a better place to be from than be at, as DAL and UAL will want to hire you but AA won’t.

Prospective pilots take note, this post is very much on the mark.
