Default PSA vs. Republic

Is going with PSA's cadet program legit? On Reddit, I've seen chatter about how cadets aren't really getting the money that they are being promised in order to finish their multi/CFII/MEI. I don't even know where to start with figuring this out. I want to prioritize a no-commute life for the entirety of my pilot career, so PSA and Republic are nearly equal in that (I want to live forever in Indianapolis, but PSA's DAY base is easy to drive to from IND). PSA seems to only have a leg up on Republic with the cadet money, but wondering if that's even real. If it was real though, I would definitely consider PSA over Republic. Any advice?

PSA is eventually going to close DAY so do not go there for DAY base. When all the wholly owned are merged DAY will not be a base anymore. Might take 2-5 years but don’t count on DAY base.

As of August 2022, “new” PSA Cadets do not get money as PSA had already went thru the money budgeted. Republic cadets don’t get anything either. Might be best to GET IT IN WRITING if PSA is guaranteeing you money as a Cadet.

Wow that’s so wild, their website and recruiters are advertising it as if everyone in the cadet program definitely gets the money. But your point and others’ are showing me that it’s not as advertised. This is very helpful insider information. I really appreciate it. I’m applying to YX now.

If you live in IND then Republic is a no-brainer. Opening a new training campus within weeks, all the sims will be there. You can become an instructor and love life. IND will never close if YX stays in business. If you ever decide to move up you can always go to FedEx.

IMO DAY-IND is at least 2 hours so being on reserve would suck as you really aren't within a 2-hour callout. Republic has a better training department and better work rules too, overall.
