Hi!
U don't know how long you'll be at your regional. If you're stuck at Horizon for your career, it's very good. If you can make capt quick and get out of Skywest for somewhere better than Horizon, then that is a better deal.
The biggest difference now between SkyWest and AWAC is the base locations. It used to be pay as AWAC highest BASE pay was $140K.

Very true, you never know how long you'll be at a regional. My whole point was that I'm already setting long term goals. Planning for the future. Thats all. I chose Skywest because if I have to stay here long term then I'll more than likely be happier than if I were at another regional.

Just wondering if anyone knows what the average response time is from HR after applying online. I applied to Skywest on the 25th and have been eagerly awaiting some news. I'm also curious as to how the lack of recency of experience plays in the selection process. I was at ACA/IA for over 5 years and have flown maybe 35 hours since they went out of business in Jan. 2006. Should I be concerned?

I had a similar situation. I was laid off from a King Air part 135 gig in Jan 2005. Took a desk job b/c I didn't have any good aviation options on the table when the engineering gig needed an answer. I got recurrent this spring and now have a class date with RAH. I didn't apply to Skywest, but I did have trouble getting responses from most places due to the lack of recent time and a flying job. I ended up going to ATL for the job fair and got the job in person on the spot. You are going to need face time and someone to walk your stuff in since you are out of the game.
