Geez, the last thing I ever intended was to evoke a negative sentiment, and I deuley and truly apologize if I had done so.
I vehemently accept and understand that our achievements as pilots don't always pan out to what we would like, but it was our final decision to get into aviation in the first place. Somewhere on this site , I read about the SJS (shiny jet syndrome), aren't we all suffering a little bit from this syndrome?
Really?
Let us all be honest with ourselves now!!

I must confess - I still do, and probably ALWAYS will. Atleast, I hope so.
SJS isn't the end of the world - you just have to balance it out with rock-solid career decisions! (ie don't think with your pecker. Use your brain)

Personally I don't agree, if you are willing to pay me a $100,000 a year to fly a skyhawk in my home town with weekends off and only stipulation is that I can't fly a jet ever I'd be calling Sporty's right now and ordering myself a fuel sample cup.
An airplane is an airplane is an airplane.

As an ex-Mesa pilot let me chime in.
Mesa really is a terrible place to work. I am at a top tier regional now and the differences are night and day. I no longer complain, I am respected by management, our mx is awesome, trips are great, hotels better, increased paycheck, no training contract.... pretty much everything that Mesa will never offer!
To explain Mesa's issues could quite possibly take a week. Let me just make a list of the reasons why people hate working there and why others don't like Mesa's management:
1) Working for less than your peers is frustrating
2) 8 days off a month on reserve vs. 12+ at other airlines. Seeing your family is important.
3) A disorganized operation... everything from dispatch to crew scheduling to maintenance.
4) An anti-pilot management group that disrespects employees on a daily basis. The CEO and others make MILLIONS per year while FOs fly the CRJ900 for $21,000 per year.
5) Low morale due to the aforementioned reasons.
6) Pay is based on segment time, not block or better (industry standard).
7) Whipsawing. Freedom years ago, now China this fall. Just watch.
8) Shoddy maintenance. MELs are part of a normal operation, ALL THE TIME. JO puts $$$ first, safety second, employees LAST.
9) Lots of stand up overnights, ready reserve and reduced rest. Much more than other carriers.
10) 3+ year upgrade due to lack of growth. The majors are giving flying to quality regionals now... no longer the post 9/11 low bidder.
The best fix to all of this? Boycott working for Mesa. With pilots leaving in herds the management over there is struggling to fill classes. An airline can't fly without pilots. Talk to every CFI / aspiring regional pilot and tell them to avoid working for Mesa. Don't let them rationalize working there. Its just too stupid to go there when the quality regionals are hiring as well. XJT, Republic, Skywest, AWAC, Eagle, Comair... MUCH better choices.
I love my new airline and I am glad to see all my friends leaving Mesa. If you have a friend that is stuck there as a Captain and can't afford to make the move to another regional... make sure they get involved with ALPA for negotiations this fall. If you have a friend who is an FO there, encourage them to join another company.
An effort such as this will really hurt that company and will help the industry. As an analogy, why work for some porn website, whoring yourself out when you could work for Google or Microsoft?
Education is key! Thanks for listening... pass it on.

Hey Just kidding,
While I am waiting for my clearance from Canada,
I went down to PHX.
Not knowing how long the Rehab visa takes to go through, I thought I would take a chance there.
Man !!! what an F**ing mistake, I Paid my own way back home ASAP.
PM me for a horrific story.
Yep I was baiting
I probably would have gave it a legitimate chance If Dave Feinstein Did not totally treat me like I was at a Dog Kennel
