Republic Airlines upgrade time?

where are those greener pastures? Are you talking about a major or some other sort of job higher up the food chain or did they get sick of republic and bail. I have an interview this week and would like to know if i should leave my current 121 job for them.

Upgrade time is fairly low and will likely go down. However, things can change overnight in the regional market. These are what I call "growth upgrades." People are moving up because the company is growing, not because people are leaving. Chasing the growth upgrade, in my opinion, is risky because by the time the 2 years or less are up, the growth may be done, or the company may even be shrinking or bought out!
If you're completely concerned about upgrade first and foremost, I'd chase an "attrition upgrade." When people are leaving a place in droves, that is likely to continue, with only minor slowing if the market takes a dump. Why? No one wants to stay at such airlines. However, such airlines will make you want to chuck the whole career by the wayside on occasion...
Just my own personal opinion and take on it...some stuff to think about, good luck.

MESA is going to need street captains at the current rate of attrition. They had another 80 some quit last week. Here in lies the problem with hiring a pilot with 250 hours. They can't hold an ATP for a year and a half.

Just remember that today's upgrade time is simply the seniority of the most junior guy eligible. With reduced attrition and growth, a 2 year upgrade could become 5 or even 10 years over the span of a month. The opposite could happen too. Eagle's upgrade is sitting around 5-7 years, but is expected to drop to 3 years with anticipated increases in attrition. Bottom line, unless you are willing to work for one of the companies that really abuses their crews, don't chase upgrade time.
I also thought Mesa's upgrade was relatively short due to the tsunami like waves of attrition. Its all a gamble. Place your chips smartly so that you don't get disillusioned like SkyHigh if your plan doesn't work out exactly as you thought it would.

The second problem is you quote Shackone and then start your reply with a stern, "No sir." It is hard to disagree with someone without fully understanding the intent of Shackone's coherent post. Your reply was incoherent and errelevant.

A year and a half to upgrade seems pretty short to me. If you're looking to upgrade FO's before that, I'd be concerned about your reasoning, captain shortage or not. Don't blame the low time pilots for this shortage, ANY FO shouldn't sit left seat before a year and a half in my opinion.
