Haven't been at my job long enough to understand the economies of scale? What are you smoking. Flying the plane isn't going to make you understand economics any better. That's the point. It doesn't take being in the industry to know these things. You'd have to be blind to see who does and doesn't get the better deals. And who said I find my info on the forums? Don't go putting words in my mouth either.

Our contract will be based on yours how? You mean by just asking for better things in general means they are chasing after XJT? When was XJTs contract made? When was the current RAH one made? Well, pal, I got news for you, post 911 when the industry was sinking to the bottom fast and contract negotiantions were up Teamsters did a very good job by standards. Possibly even raising the bar for others. We know your contract is good but don't go acting like it parted the red seas. Ever heard of Horizon or NetJets?

I bash ALPA? Show me where I've bashed them? There you go putting words in peoples mouth's again. I've said it a thousand times over that I think unions are very necessary. Saying ALPA hasn't done tons of good on the regional level isn't bashing it's fact. Don't be so naive to think they aren't doing all they can to secure the old captains their seats. Look at the age 65 deal. Just because I say they haven't done that great of a job doesn't mean I don't support them. Mesa, Comair, Freedom, GoJets.... Those are facts. Those aren't cheap punches or throws. Just facts. I don't have to work for any of them to know who got screwed and how it affects the "economics of the so called regional level". I've never said I knew everything about and don't claim to. You just decided to get all ****y because I support Mike's opinion which I'm fully entitled to do and if you don't like it then cry me a river. You try and discredit someone's opinion, which I don't think is even possible, by stating they don't have enough experience in areas that don't matter to start with. You're an ALPA chest thumper I get it. Sorry I agreed with someone here.... not really.

When we negotiated our contract 02-04, we used Comair as the basis as they had (at the time) the most competitive contract. It has been common practice in the industry for years...I rest my case....I called you out on your ignorance about the subject, and all you've done so far is buried yourself deeper....piece of advice, I'd get rid of your attitude before OE, or you might be looking at a career change. Good luck.

The union is as strong as the pilots period. Its a tool, you can buy one and never use it, or you can buy one and never learn how to use it, or you can buy one and make effective use of it. Comparing unions is like comparing hammers from your local home depot, some are better than others but all will get the job done when used properly. Or used at all for that matter.

Look up Air Wisconsin’s new contract negotiated threw ALPA.
So why the night and day difference between AWAC and TSA. Why did United pilots loose so much? It is not a matter of a blame game, but it is IGNORANT to accept ALPA for what it is just because it is a union. Nobody wins if there is an adversarial relationship between labor and management. This is why unions have disappeared over the years (ie. steel). You dont win favors by suing the airlines constantly. ALPA has not protected pilots in years past, and for somebody to think that bigger is better is flawed. Pilots need a single strong union, but with pilots willing to work for peanuts that union is as only as strong as the pilots in it, and unfortunately, pilots accross the board are not willing to put their jobs on the line to defend fellow ALPA pilots at other carriers. Pilots should put the screws to TSA, United, and so on. It's time for that. Let's face it, ALPA is not the answer to our labor woes, Period.

So what you're saying now is that you've completely decided to back what I was already saying? That's what it looks likes. I know you've put a few rude comments in there but infact you have tried to discredit what I've said while agreeing with it. Nice Francis. I guess that takes care of this discussion since after all this time. The only attitute here is your little ****y one that jumped in for no good reason lol.

Simply from reading the forums here, you can get a great feel for why airline unions will never be as effective as they should be, especially at the regional level. It seems as though we airline pilots generally have the attitude of every man/woman/airline for themselves. Want proof? Look at the difference between TSA and XJT. Sure, they fly for different codeshares - but they fly the same aircraft for the same union. For another example, take a look at TSA & Mesa: same aircraft for the same partners, but a huge difference in pilot contracts. Until pilots are willing to stick their necks out for pilots at OTHER carriers, management everywhere will be able to rake us over the coals.
