I did the same thing. They were very difficult when it came to the shuttle. To and from the hangar at the contracted times worked very well, however we usually were finished a couple of hours before 5 and they would refuse to pick us up early. that wasn't so bad because you can work on your flows (do this EVERY day for at LEAST an hour.) while waiting. Depending on who is driving the shuttle you may or may not get taken to the grocery store. other than that, good luck getting a ride anywhere. Wal-mart is kind of close. you can take the light rail to a walkable distance to wal-mart. they have groceries there. good luck. study your flows. don't just memorize them, be able to spout them out instantly. it will make things INCREDIBLY easier through the rest of training. especially IOE. Have fun!

you can jumpseat on skywest as soon as you get your badge. other airlines i don't remember. it took us about a week or so to get our badges. you are required to jumpseat on at least one flight in the type of plane you're training for. a ride along as they call it. they are fun, get to check things out. just make sure you're able to get back!

General rule of thumb is if you can't "give" a jumpseat, you can't take one...
You're fine on SKW Flights, of course, but I'd be cautious about other carriers before you've hit the Sim-ride...that being said, there were several in my last training class that flew off to Hawaii on a long weekend during Systems ;-)

I understand that class is mostly mon-fri my question is: my best friend is getting married during my ground school and the rehersal dinner is Friday night for a Sat wedding, which I am expected to provide 'best man' services. Does anyone think this is going to be a problem? I exepect I won't be able to do rehersal but can fly up late Friday after class for the weekend. What do you think?
