Supposedly, things will be rough for XJ through the end of the year and early next year. But then apparently, our luck is supposed to change. Im not saying I believe it, just what I've heard. I took with a 1/2 grain of salt.

Sorry but I think it's only going to get worse. They haven't hired instructors for the SAAB. The diplacements will eventually cause a large number of training events on that fleet. If we were keeping them we would need instructors. Everytime I'm at the airport, I see too many mainline A/C sitting idle at the hangers. I expect us to be reduced down to less than 600 pilots. There is no "carrot" around the corner. I don't buy the "ATR" rumor or the "C series" rumor. The only event that would help us is IF the flow-through started back up.
Best wishes to the furlough guys/gals, it's a tough industry.

Does anyone know at XJ if you can take a voluntary furlough after they already offer one? I have a job offer back home that I want to take up. Im pretty sure im going to get the axe the beginning of the year with the additional saabs parking so im getting prepared. Any ideas would help.

I highly doubt delta will go without a turboprop if their competitor has them.

True. But as far as t-props go, its either got to be the new ATR's or Q's. I guess time will tell. We may not even be the chosen ones to operate em.

I tend to side with you. But I guess thats just me prepping for the worst. BTW...who said anything about the C-series? That should be completely off the table for us.

I was saying this same thing 6 months ago. The good times at Mesaba are over. Base closures and huge layoffs are what we have to look forward to. Fun fun. I hope we get 5 years of flight benefits out of it.

A-frickin-men to that! People ***** and complain about people picking up open time while we are furloughing but not much is said about these 'outings'. I know they don't cost all that much but neither does a first year FO. Just another example of how management 'cares' about us.
