It has no mainline scope restrictions and is cheaper to operate than the Q400.
Getting ATR is a rumor. I've also heard that but I'll believe it when it actually shows up at the Mesaba hangar. I just do not see DAL buying new turboprops in this economy. I see RESHUFFLING of existing CRJ7s and CRJ9s from one DCI carrier to another. Now as for RA stating Mesaba will be an all jet fleet by 2012, that is not a rumor.

There is room for 30 more jets. As long as the turboprop has less than 71 seats and 70,000 MTOW it is unlimited number.

I heard a rumor a while back about the FA's getting trained on the 700. Don't know if Mesaba was told something or if they are just trying to be ready if it happens.

Looks like Eau Claire is going away, and Skywest is moving in.

Well we won't have the equipment to serve Eau Claire anyway. Let the folks of Eau Claire fly to Chicago and experience the MESS that it is. What will end up happening is they will realize how horrible O'Hare AND United is and will just drive to MSP anyway to hop on a Delta flight.

Can everybody get a grip here? We don't know 100% that we're losing the ENTIRE fleet. We know we're losing 23, so why is everyone acting as if we're losing all 49. Between now and 2011 there is lots of time to wait and see what happens with the rest of the fleet. I get that the writing is on the wall, but we never can tell what's around the corner. We have to remember that an airline is a business and if our saabs aren't making money for DL, then it only makes sense to get rid of them. Nobody knows for certain what the economics of the planes in todays environment is. Nobody knows the revenue and yield of all these small markets. Unfortunately, we're just along for the ride and can't do anything about it. Reality check... sometimes the world doesn't always revolve around us pilots.
