They come out on a Friday so that crew planning doesn't have to come in on a weekend to take care of any of it, just as all the vacancy notices did...

is it 55 more on top of the original 110 or so announced.. or is it 55 to help reduce the involuntary of the 110 original?

I hope it is to help reduce the 110 but I have a bad feeling that it means 165 furloughs.

If I wasn't broke I think I'd take it and go get a master's or something. But I can't afford to stop working...

That's okay though because you fly the -900. At least the passengers think you make a lot of money.

Maybe if we told the passengers how much money we make, then that would open some eyes.
But no I don't believe it's another 55 on top of 110. I believe that they're trying most avenues before an involuntary.

One of the last ALPA emails we received talked about how there was growing interest in another round of "voluntary fuloughs" by the pilot group. They had presented the idea to the company a few weeks ago and hadn't heard back at the time. Here, now, is their answer. I guess the company liked the idea. I also believe this is NOT an additional 55-65 furloughs. Just another way to reduce the involuntary effect.

If I didn't think I'd be out of a job come spring I would take one. I need to save up though, I'm beginning to think that there will be another 200 axed this coming spring.
