I love how those mechanics straight up lie to us when we walk in the door..."oh, uhhh, it'll probably be a couple hours until the plane you guys are taking back is done." That couple hours always turned into 12-72 hours...at least they have good cheap vending machines...

Glad I'm not the only one...they deadheaded us down, plane wasn't ready. Put us up in a hotel, plane wasn't ready in the morning. Deadheaded us back to DTW. Picked a plane up to take there for mx, then took the plane that was done back. Worst 2 days of reserve ever. This is Zach by the way man...polishing up that resume? Hope all is well buddy.

Hahaha exactly, the other FO and I spent our time at a Microtel with only a BWs and gas station close by.

Touche

That probably beats my 3 roundtrip DHs to LSE for overnights in a month!

DH DTW-MEM-TUP-MSL

Overnight

Fly MSL-TUP-MEM

DH MEM-DTW

I've done a variation of that a couple of times.

Or:

DH DTW-CWA

Fly CWA-MSP

Scheduled 2-minute connection to make a DH back to DTW, didn't make it, had to wait a few more hours for the next flight... only to find out that the CA I was filling in for was DH'd to DTW to cover something... which is where I was to begin with.

It's funny...it seems like 50% of the guys are constantly complaining about petty things like crew scheduling and the other 50% feel fortunate to just have jobs, especially in light of a 20% Saab fleet reduction and impending furloughs at XJ.

We're all fortunate to have jobs...there's no doubt about that. There's certain things out of our control, and we have to deal with it. A little light hearted "one-upping" doesn't imply the 50-50 theory. Everyone has been effed by screw scheduling at one point or another...lighten up man. We're all in the same boat, and it's not the first time for most.
