Well just from looking at the fleet news it appears that we are only using 43 out of the 49 saabs we own right now and are maintaining the current staffing level. If you look at it from that perspective we are not using 6 saabs + another 4 saabs in the fall would make up the 10. I know this is tough, I've already been furloughed once, but we must continue to fly safe in light of the news. This economy is just a mess right now and is driving so many things down the tube, so we must continue to brace ourselves and realize at the same time this is just a cycle.

DG - fleet news only counts a/c in active service flying. It doesn't count spares, planes in paint/seat refurb/mx. We never have every single airplane in service at any given time. I wish you were on to something... but this is not good news today.

And now we'll do what we know best at Mesaba... shrinkage and getting kicked around. The 2 years of "growing" back to our original size was great. NOW everyone can have something to worry about. However... we should still wait to see what really happens. Lots can happen between today and Sept.

The reason 6 are out is 1 is painting and 5 are planned out for either regular inspections or short term maintenance (they aren't getting any younger you know) Likely there will still be at least 4, probably 5 planned out at 39.... So in reality we need to staff for about 34 or 35.

The bright spot in all this is no matter what job one manages to find after all this crap rolls down hill it will pay more than we get paid now. Yes, the silver lining in the cloud.

Yea that is true. Well everyone lets hope for the best and prepare for the worst. While this is not the best news we never know what could happen between now and September.

If you are a commuter, you will make more on unemployment when factoring commuting costs. I know this first hand unfortunately.

Take this for what it was, a rumor, but I heard from someone (who heard from someone at the GO) we may get more fuel inefficient 200s...I don't know how much credibility I would put into that though, but I thought it's less doom and gloom than the previous two pages .
