What, did you expect Delta (the company that is quite content to not have ANY unions other than the pilots, and wouldn't mind getting rid of that one too) to cut 30 seat turboprops from Skywest (the non-union airline)????

So yes I guess it does mean furloughs.
That goes back to November 07. This is going to be a huge ordeal. A lot of displacements, domicile changing and retraining. By the time they are done with all the re-aligning and training you know they are going to have to start hiring again. The net plane loss from this Delta deal is only minus 5 planes though, so their staffing numbers were way off to have to go back and fire pilots from November 07 just for the loss of 5 airframes. I don't think the company can plan on cutting staff due to PBS, we all know how that is going.

I think part of the problem there was the company expected people to continue to quit one way or the other (AKA attrition) And with the flow up stopping at what 12 or so, and nobody really quitting at the bottom since there is nowhere to go now even outside aviation, that expectation blew up in thier face.

Any guesses on how long it will take to hear the f-bomb? Lets get short and long end estimates. I'm almost certain I'll be one of them, so from those of you who may have a clue as to what the time table might be, fire away!

You'd be surprised at how much more efficient PBS makes schedules. No more training, carry in, or vacation issues.

I'm sure management knows how many pilots they can cut when PBS is implemented.

Yes but my point was more about the actual implementation of PBS, as in when they will actually put it in place. When was it first suppose to be implemented? Yeah, my point exactly.

I don't work there. Last I heard it was delayed, but I would guess you'll have it by the end of the year.
