I have been assigned the 900 and Memphis as a domicile...I'm wondering about the benefits and drawbacks associated with each base at the present time. Should I expect to be off reserve faster at Memphis than at Detroit? Is it more junior than Detroit at this time? How does everyone like living in Memphis? How is operating at of the terminal there versus Detroit? Thanks in advance.

Same question still stands for anyone else who has an opinion:
DTW vs. MEM...which do you like, what do you think about each, and which seems to be quicker off reserve? Thanks to all who have answered and to all who will answer.

Well, it sounds like they anticipate most, if not all, MEM vacancies for the time being. It sounded like they had changed their procedure, thanks for the info. Hopefully their will be a little movement so people can get to where they would like to be before they get out of training.

The procedure has not changed... new-hires will bid on vacant positions for the vacancy notice that contains your new-hire class. The current vacancy notice is for I believe the January 5th class. The vacancies for the Feb. 2nd class won't be known for awhile.

I didn't say the procedure changed. I was called earlier this month and informed that I was moved to a Feb 2nd class. I heard the words nine hundred, and Memphis. I was also reminded that I could still bid for bases. I don't mean to assert that anything has changed...mostly because I wouldn't know. That's my report, guv'nor.

Sultan - my reply was in regards to the poster"Johnson48" who assumed the procedure had changed. I informed him otherwise. Relax man... and welcome to XJ.

For those of you who have access to the intel, what is the current break down of the Jan 5 class vacencies for bases? I'm hoping there are a few DTW slots in there....

For FOs, there are 12 CRJ900 slots for MSP and 2 Saab slots for the Jan 5 class. I think the 2 Saab FOs are for MEM base but that info is not available until you start. If you are on the CRJ900 you are getting MSP initially, but you should be able to bid for DTW after you finish your training and I suspect you probably will get it as DTW is junior to MSP and there few FOs who wants to bid MSP from DTW.
