Hey I used to work at UPS before Mesaba doing the sorting job and from what I gathered when I inquired about getting my job back that if I couldnt be there I wouldnt be getting the job. Never hurts to ask but I highly doubt they will let you work there with the possibility of not showing up. If you do get the job please let me know so I can try again because those benies are the best ever.

How many of you guys have jobs outside of flying? For those that do what jobs have you found that allow you to leave when you need to and/or not show up?

I'm a server on the side...The restaurant lets me schedule around my days flying and on those days that I'm on reserve and there's a relatively early release (5pm) I can quickly pick up a shift from another person or call and ask if they need extra help. The restaurant is only open in the evening which helps.

I thought I would try and ask again, what is the training schedule like prior to going to the sim? (ie. 1 week indoc, 2 weeks systems?) Do you typically have a week off or so prior to going to sim training? Is it recommended to have a car in MSP during initial groundschool or can you get away with the hotel transportation and maybe renting a car a few times to get supplies? Thanks.

They will not be overly accommodating in terms of "only working 4 days a week", or submitting your availability in advance.
The old adage goes at UPS.
A part time job at UPS is a full time job in real life.
A full time job at UPS, is an all the time job.

I worked for UPS for 4 years both as an hourly, and on the management side, they expect you to be there every night, part time or not.
