I know this has been posted before however I was just curious of what everyone thought about driving your car out to MSP for groundschool. And after the completion of groundschool and IOE how long do you have before you start flying at a base?

I'm planning of driving - absolutely. I can't imagine being in a hotel for 8 weeks w/ weekends off and no car! It's about 15 hrs from Dallas and I'm happy to do it.

It really depends on how much you want to rely on other people if you need some supplies. Theyre putting me up at the towneplace suites in eagan. its pretty nice, theres a chilis and wendys right across the street and a walmart, rainbow foods and a bunch of restaurants a few blocks away. theyre all within a reasonable walking distance, but it might be a bit far if youre carrying bags full of grocieries. the homestead suites doesnt have a damn thing within walking distance other than a sams club, so get a membership! eagan is a nice city, so you wont have to worry about security like my buddies down at pinnacle have to do.

That one all depends. I have been waiting for IOE for about two weeks but people in my class have already finished IOE and are flying the line. After IOE you should start flying at your base within a week. Where are you based?

well my groundschool date is for 8/27 so I'm not too sure where I'll wind up. I live in Ca, so it was a matter of driving now and having it during training, or my folks had offered to drive it out later when I knew where I was getting based. I'm not sure if timelines allow enough room to be able to drive from Eagan to wherever my base will be which is when I would really like to have my car.
