Welcome! If the pattern continues, the 17th class will be either all Saab, or Saab and CRJ-200. Unless they stray from the way they have been doing classes for the last 4 or 5 vacancies, I can't see any newhires getting the 900 on this class start date. Sorry, but on the bright side... if you get the 200 you'd be guaranteed MSP as it is the only 200 base.

Just a clarification. You are seat locked as an FO for 3 years if you have not had the opportunity to upgrade. This means after 3 years you can bid to FO in another airplane. There are no seat locks for upgrade as long as you meat the minimum of experience which are ATP minimums. Also I believe a year with the company which can be reduced to avoid hiring street captains. There may be a XJ flight time requirement but it is low and can be reduced. So to summarize you can upgrade when your seniority holds it and move to whatever base your aircraft is in and your seniority can bid to that base.
3 years to switch FO seats. If you switch FO seats, you're stuck there for 2 years even if you could upgrade.
As long as you meet ATP minimums, you can upgrade provided your seniority can hold it.
Once you upgrade you are locked 2 years from taking another captain spot for two years from your FED ride. Unless the company relaxes the lock.
You can change bases whenever there is a bid and your seniority can hold it - no lock.
I don't remember a Mesaba Flight time requirement for upgrade. I think what your talking is a minimum hour requirement to upgrade into turbojet aircraft (when the AVRO came on property - it was our first jet). I think there was a 5000 hour requirement but if you had less than 5000 hours Mesaba time reduced that 5000 number some percentage.
I don't believe we have this issue any more. I also think there is something in the contract about NOT hiring street jet captains but I am not certain of the language.

Ive been at Mesaba a little over a year now and I can say that for the most part things are very positive. The company has undergone tremendous growth which has made pretty much everyone happy. Some things about management are "typical" but I enjoy working here. I can definitely say most everyone and everything has been positive so if you're coming from a negative experience, Mesaba should be a very welcome change for you. Welcome aboard! What eqpt and domicile are you in?
I had a much longer post to answer this but I didn't want to come off too badly.
Things are good right now. This is NOT the norm. Research the employee relations at NWA, we have some of those same people that created those problems. Read "Flying the Line 1 and 2". And even though losing airplanes and furloughs and paycuts are bad, the company now is being more insidious with contract violations because times are good and people are happy.
Mesaba could easily be whipped around like Comair. It has happened in the past, it will happen again.
Be very wary of our management. Just because we are wholly owned doesn't mean anything. The new Delta doesn't need all the regionals they have so once the merger is done, get ready, it could be a bumpy ride.

Now why would I have done that? I'm saying people are taking their jobs a little to lightly for having a couple hundred hours. That they are more worried about what goes in their log book than how they do their job. I'm not saying this is every one. A bunch of people I have flown with over the last few months have had this attitude. What does that have to do with throwing your log book in the trash? What are the FO's you have been flying with like?

Where is the shortest reserve time on the Saab? MEM, DTW, or MSP? Also how long is that reserve time? How about on the jet?

I know alot of guys on the Saab who where in the 12/28 and 01/14 class as FOs have been on Straight reserve since they got on the line in April and May. The only month they didnt have reserve was the month of their green line. 12/28 had 6 DTW and 6 MEM initially, 1/14 had 4 MEM initially because I know a few may have changed bases.
LIOG41,
Jan. 14 was last class of Saab CA or FOs until the Sept 8th class. The individuals hired after Jan 14 - May, when hiring stopped, where all into the CRJs.(Belive May was the last class till Sept 8th without looking at the Seniority List. Sites down again or I'd look to be sure.)
Just an estimate but I'd say between 75-100 all fleets/seats hired from Jan 1 - May 31 of 2008.

My previous posts answered you question a few pages back . Half of 12/28 is in Detroit on Reserve the other half is in Memphis on Reserve. The 1/14 is all in Memphis on Reserve.
