I got about that much notice when I was hired too...but seniority is king.

Sorry, but on the bright side... if you get the 200 you'd be guaranteed MSP as it is the only 200 base.
Hey just curious when the vacancy for the 200 comes out? Also how long does it take to hold a line in the Saab. Which base has the shortest wait?

There are no seat locks for upgrade as long as you meat the minimum of experience which are ATP minimums. Also I believe a year with the company which can be reduced to avoid hiring street captains. There may be a XJ flight time requirement but it is low and can be reduced. So to summarize you can upgrade when your seniority holds it and move to whatever base your aircraft is in and your seniority can bid to that base.
Bottom line:
3 years to switch FO seats. If you switch FO seats, you're stuck there for 2 years even if you could upgrade.

As long as you meet ATP minimums, you can upgrade provided your seniority can hold it.

Once you upgrade you are locked 2 years from taking another captain spot for two years from your FED ride. Unless the company relaxes the lock.

You can change bases whenever there is a bid and your seniority can hold it - no lock.

I don't remember a Mesaba Flight time requirement for upgrade. I think what your talking is a minimum hour requirement to upgrade into turbojet aircraft (when the AVRO came on property - it was our first jet). I think there was a 5000 hour requirement but if you had less than 5000 hours Mesaba time reduced that 5000 number some percentage.

I don't believe we have this issue any more. I also think there is something in the contract about NOT hiring street jet captains but I am not certain of the language.

I can definitely say most everyone and everything has been positive so if you're coming from a negative experience, Mesaba should be a very welcome change for you. Welcome aboard! What eqpt and domicile are you in?
Huh?
I had a much longer post to answer this but I didn't want to come off too badly.

Things are good right now. This is NOT the norm. Research the employee relations at NWA, we have some of those same people that created those problems. Read "Flying the Line 1 and 2". And even though losing airplanes and furloughs and paycuts are bad, the company now is being more insidious with contract violations because times are good and people are happy.

Mesaba could easily be whipped around like Comair. It has happened in the past, it will happen again.
Be very wary of our management. Just because we are wholly owned doesn't mean anything. The new Delta doesn't need all the regionals they have so once the merger is done, get ready, it could be a bumpy ride.

A bunch of people I have flown with over the last few months have had this attitude. What does that have to do with throwing your log book in the trash? What are the FO's you have been flying with like?
In general, the FO's I've been flying with have been excellent. I don't know you personally 405PA, so I can't say that this is the case with you, but the CA sets the tone for the crew (I learned that in CRM 101 ). If you don't like your FO's attitudes, maybe it is just a reflection of the CA's attitude? Again, this is not meant to be a personal attack, just some food for thought.

Where is the shortest reserve time on the Saab? MEM, DTW, or MSP? Also how long is that reserve time? How about on the jet?

Just an estimate but I'd say between 75-100 all fleets/seats hired from Jan 1 - May 31 of 2008.
DG

My previous posts answered you question a few pages back . Half of 12/28 is in Detroit on Reserve the other half is in Memphis on Reserve. The 1/14 is all in Memphis on Reserve.
