I am sure the canidate is a very smart guy/girl and can and will get through training. I am have been through 2 airline ground schools and might be on number 3 soon if the economy keeps slipping but to say 25 multiengine hours is enough to fly a CRJ900 is ignorant thinking. Why don't we let interns perform brain surgery because they will do it for next to nothing? We might have to change our way of thinking on topics like this if we want to turn our careers around. The CRJ900 is at a regional airline and taking MAINLINE routes away from the higher paying jobs that we all want from pilots with just over a day of multiengine experience for salaries less than garbage men.......I say again wow.

I am not faulting the person that got hired, I am faulting the industry and pilots (including myself) for letting it get this far. Congrats on the job and good luck in training dude......I am so tired of you guys trying to stand up for new hires with little time. I would NOT have turned down the job if I were in that position (I had 400 hrs multi when I got hired) because I was and didn't. I don't think it is good for the future of OUR careers for pilots with 25 hrs to fly jets. If you think that this is a step in the right direction then good for you but I think this is a serious problem.....Most of my blame goes to mainline guys that gave up scope many years ago but again I don't fault this guy for taking the job so you guys can stop getting so worked up, we are all in this together.

His feelings are hurt cause some FO took his job at mainline by being hired to fly a -900. But the FO that was offered a job the same day to fly the Saab did not take his job.

I remember when this was a positive forum about helping one another out at XJ and supporting our fellow pilots regardless of feelings or opinions. Are things good or bad? Well it depends where you're at right now and the industry is what it is. Be mad at managements or whoever you want but let's not hash on other pilots because they wanted to live their dream.

For everyone in the Oct. 6th class. How did you find out what aircraft you're on and did you receive your FOM? I'm in the class and all I have is a "Boarding Process Full-Time Employees" handbook.

They told me I'd get the Saab when I got the call with the job offer. Also, have only received the Employee handbook and paperwork to fill out.

THe "boarding process" paperwork comes from HR and is sent out the same day they make they offers. The FOM is sent out by the training department. So if you were made offers late in the week it's likely the training department won't get to the FOMs until this week.

I second that. Was told in the call, and then received the paperwork only. FOM and schedule should arrive shortly.
