I call BS on the senior FA knowing what's going on. If his/her statement is true and the vacancy was just pushed up a bit we technically wouldn't have to increase hiring. I've been told we're interviewing a lot for the rest of the month. The FACTS are there to prove something big is coming:

Increased pilot hiring
LCAs for all fleets
Ground and Sim instructors
Increased FA hiring

Those are all known quantities. If our growth was tapering off as originally scheduled in October, we wouldn't be doing all of the above things. True, the average line pilot, line FA, LCA whatever doesn't know EXACTLY what's going on. However, all you need to do is look at the activity and put two and two together. Something is going on and it's like someone switched on a light last week and switched the direction of the company.

Does anyone think that Mesaba is getting more saabs? Either that are they going to release the seatlocks again, why else would they have just hired so many? Just curious, very interesting time at Mesaba.

You missed the sarcasm with senior FA, this came from a well informed training guy, not a FA as you might think.

Ahhh... I get it. Hard to read into the sarcasm here. But either way, the activity that is taking place doesn't jive with simply moving a class date up. It jives with something bigger. I guess we'll find out for sure Tuesday.

This all reminds me of the time comair thought they needed 300 pilots for expected growth (mesa going down the toilet) and then turned around and said they were going to have to furlough about that many. all in a matter of weeks. don't believe anything until you can see it. i'm hoping it is true as well, i need a job

THe buzz is that there will be an announcement on Tuesday. That's confirmed by union sources who have signed confidentiality agreements. However, like everything else, take that with a grain of salt.

Skystormer - yes, most of us at XJ have seen and experienced the same BS that Comair is going through. Mot of us are still numb and bitter towards how bad things were at XJ at one point. It's finally nice to be on the backside of that misery, but we all still certainly won't hold our breath waiting for anything new.

The same Comair that two weeks later cancelled the furloughs and held a vacancy bid because Delta had awarded Comair the 14 900s from Freedum. Then two weeks later cancelled the vacancy bid because Delta decided not to give the 900s to Comair. Then announced a new displacement bid for 100 downgrades and 206 furloughs?

I'm hoping Delta isn't gonna start that shiht with Mesaba now. They can beat their red-headed stepchild all they want, but why start in on their new red-tailed stepchild?
