Mesaba new hires

Well it did come straight from the mouth of a well feed horse (not the FA although most could qualify as that), by the way i dont create the news I just pass it along, and it did actually come from a well informed person (not a line pilot, LCA, or a senior captain) for what its worth.

can scheduling call me...say today...and change my reserve schedule...say..starting tomorrow...for the month of Sept. from P1 to P2? this will completely screw me on something very important that I have had scehduled now for several weeks because I will not be able to make the commute this coming Friday to get back in time. can they legally swap me around like that with such short notice after I had already been awarded P1?

Actually... your TT does matter for the interview and after you get the job. It isn't the end all however. 340driver makes a great point and it's true... maturity, humility and skill are indeed apart of the package. The folks from the famous aviation schools are a source for pilots, never a guarantee. Heck, I heard we didn't even hire all our interns this summer! They're all held to the same standards, if not higher to get the job. We've turned away many from UND, Riddle and the rest.
You are absolutely correct as well. These agreements do not guarantee a job, only an interview. The question asked was about mins for an interview not whether or not the big school pilots are better than others. If anyone seriously believes that they are better because they come from the big schools you have a sad awakening when you eventually make it into this industry. The response was merely a guarantee of an interview even if you do not have the published mins but graduated or are about too graduate from a school with a hiring agreement. I have numerous friends from the big schools who interviewed and did not get an offer so you are correct as well. The other side of the story and whether or not you get hired is how badly the company needs pilots. A year ago, the company was taking low hour guys because they needed to fill classes. At this point the hours needed to get hired are probably much higher than the hours needed to get an interview.

Congrats on getting the interview and job. I know a lot of friends that were hired with far less than the 600TT...actually half of it. I do have to say that going to a accredited flight school does put you ahead of the rest of those that do apply. I was told while interning at NWA from K.D. that for every 1 UND hour (or other flight school hour) was equal to 1.8 hours in their own opinion because of the training. An interesting way of looking at it.

When Joe R was in DTW a week or two back, I asked him specifically about when we might see training start back up on the Saab. He said the plan was for FOUR upgrades at the end of November. After the severe revision to the last vacancy, I have to agree with those who think something serious has happened. What that is is anybody's guess...
