Mesaba new hires

Saab CA freezes have been released since January. It's been the same on every notice since. This entire year has all been the same. 07-20 was the last notice with the freezes. Ever since the two people with less that 2,000 TT got awarded 900 CA the freezes are gone.
Right now if you are the most senior person bidding you can be awarded a 900 CA slot. Explain how that is not fair?

maybe we are getting 3-4 crj's a month instead of the projected 2 a month, which would require a larger than normal class
didnt bombardier slow down deliveries earlier this year? maybe now they are up and running and pumpin the new crj's out at 4 a month
sorry to be the pessimist

Avroman - ready reserve has always been in our contract and very much fair game. The company doesn't have to announce anything when they follow our contract. We've never been staffed properly in the past, to actually have ready reserve, so it's not like they just dreamed it up this summer. I don't like it any more than you do, but it's there for free and clear use. To say they didn't tell us about it to consider in our decisions when bidding the jet is weak.
Nobody forced us to the jets to be more junior compared to where we'd sit on the saab. That was our choice. Going sooner to the jet wouldn't have made any difference to our relative positions... just look at the last guy on the 200 CA list. He got there because he wasn't seat locked, but when the locks were released - he got pushed down. I was wrongly seatlocked after I requaled as a saab CA. I could have held the 900 or the 200 months before I actually got awarded it. In the end, I got the 200 but it wouldn't have made a hill of beans for me seniority wise if I had got to go earlier. I'd still be at the bottom as my relative seniority would never have changed. The seatlocks could always have been lifted at any time. The contract stipulates they had to release them to prevent street captains on the jet. That's exactly what they did. The same thing happened on the avro... it went junior for a short period of time and then when it finally went senior again, it pushed all the junior avro captains down, much to their dismay. That's the luck of seniority. I'm just sayin'...
Regarding increased delivery schedules... I've heard that the delivery schedule has not changed on the last few 900s. More of sitting back and watching it all unfold I guess.

That's my point. We were repeatedly told Saab locks wouldn't be released. Then all of a sudden halfway through this (Feb 08) the seatlocks go away. Ok so we find ourselves overstaffed on the Saab as needed to have so many in the training pipeline. Fine I get that. Rather than do a massive messy realignment they release the locks. Yes it screws me but I get it... Now again backfilling Saab spots (just like pre Feb 08) they are still releasing the locks, NOT like pre Feb 08. They changed the rules mid stream. Yes that keeps me stuck near the bottom of the list. Again not a big deal because I figured even if the locks stayed on there wouldn't be that many people junior to me that would have taken the upgrade before bottoming out the list and basically releasing the seatlocks anyway. But it probably would have put enough below me to at least get me a build up line (BIG pay difference guys). Not to mention my biggest peeve, reinstating the ready reserve usage that hadn't been done since 2003. That was not announced and able to be made part of the decision making. That would have made a BIG difference to me, I can live with reserve in base, been doing that most of my flying career one way or another. The ready reserve is complete B.S!

Rev 2
19 saab Fo's
15 crj Fo's
15 crj Ca
7 Saab Ca
I'm guessing they drained the Pool was the reason for the change in one less FO.

Sorry guys you're making a mountain out of a molehill. This isn't some conspiracy, planning screwed their projections up. They did it before with the street captain staffing projections and they did it again. I'd suggest you spend your energy on more productive issues like lifting 12 ounces multiple times this weekend!!!!!

Xjsaab - planning screwing up doesn't constitute this sense of urgency. Increased pilot hiring, FA hiring and now ground and sim instructor hiring is not a result of planning screwing up. Something more is going on here. I do like your method of wasting energy though.

Either way I'll drink to it.
