is there classes running every two weeks, or is there a chance of starting every week?
do the classes usually run saabs every two weeks and rjs every 4 weeks? (2 saab classes a month and one rj a month)
also, say one is put in DTW or MEM, what is commuting from MSP like? once awarded MSP, do you get a line right away or are you put on reserve?

Commuting from MSP or any domicile will depend on where you're coming from/going to and how full those flights run.
Most new hires now will probably do little to no reserve at all due to the growth. At least thats what they're telling us. In sept, we will be taking 2 CRJ200's and 2 CR9's (4 a/c) per month, so expect things to really be in a full swing and a lot of new bodies on the property to staff all those a/c. Barring anything catastrophic to the industry, the opportunity to get hired on with XJ at this time cannot be overstated. Good luck!

I was hired in the May 28th class and was awarded MEM initially. I am almost finished with sim and have been moved to DTW until Oct. 1st when I will be in MSP. So, if you want MSP you shouldn't have any trouble getting it if things stay as they have been.
I have heard different stories about commuting--some say it is harder between DTW and MSP because so many people are doing it. Some say it is harder between MEM and MSP because of fewer flights. I haven't flown the line yet and will only have to commute for a little over a month so I am hoping it isn't too bad. Plus the call in honest policy is pretty good--if you are really trying to make it here and can't you get a break (just don't do it too often)

I would commute from MSP to either DTW or MEM, depending on my base, anyone with any experience on this?

Commuting: It is hard from MSP to either DTW or MEM. However, keep the faith, when it looks like there is no way you will make it on, often you still make it at the last minute. If you want MSP and are on the Saab, you shouldn't have to wait more than a few months. If you are on the 900, you will have to wait until the delivery schedule permits.
Personally, as far as MSP is concerned, I think DTW is a much easier commute than MEM. Coming home from DTW to MSP there is a nice garbage run at 10:30 PM that usually has room for everyone who has been bumped all day long. There is no equivalent coming from MEM. And we all know that the commute that really matters is the one towards home.
As far as going to work, the "call in honest" policy actually works very well.
