Cool, thanks for the info. So basically I should list my trip in open time and then also request a drop trip?

You cannot simply list a trip off of your line in open time. You can look at open trips and TRADE your trip for an open trip or you can put in a request to drop your trip, or trade it with another pilot's trip or days off. Mesaba doesn't have a mechanism to just put a trip in open time to see if someone will pick it up. That is what notes on the trip trade section of our ALPA message board, or the newer Mesaba Pilots forum or pieces of paper hanging in the crew room etc.

If you have a friend that has a trip you want, and he/she will fly your trip, you can trade each other's trips on a single trip trade form.

ICAO could care less if Mesaba uses their flightplan format or not. The FAA is going through "the change" and in order for our fancy jets with RNAV capability to take advantage of RNAV procedures, we need to use the ICAO format to realize the maximum benefit in the FAA's new ARTCC computer system being installed in a Center near you. What's good for the jet, is good for the Saab too, so we are all on the same page.

There is a nice PPT presentation on MyMesaba Flight Ops Homepage if you want some additional background beyond the memo and bulletin Thankfully the PPT is not required training. It will put you to sleep.

It took me about a day to make sense out of it....felt kind of silly holding my XJ memo side by side with the new ICAO format on the dispatch so I could decipher it. Now, it's just another one of those things.

The real trick now is having to re-learn how to fold that sheet just right so it sits nicely above the FMS.

Can anyone recommend a good AME in DTW - preferably near the airport?

How long will scheduling take to call you to finish your OE. I got done with my first part of OE on Tuesday and well only got around 20 hrs. I was wondering how long till they call to finish up so that I might be able to go somewhere for the fourth.

Call them and ask them, say you are planning on going out of town and they will most likely accomodate you, plus not too many LCA will be working the weekend of the 4th....

I just had two trips pulled for IOE so the process is still running. One was for this weekend and the other was for next weekend.
