Mesaba new hires

No inside information - just an interesting discussion subject that "may" have some bearing on future moves by NWA or Delta.

I believe that is incorrect. My understanding is that DAL has no scope clause with Comair that restricts them to 76 seats so theoretically Comair can fly CRJ1000. Now I am not saying this is good in any way. I already fly CRJ900 and I think it is stretched enough as it is. My opinion is that anything bigger than this belongs in the mainline. NWA rep at the NWA/DAL joint merger presentation said NWA/DAL is looking for a 100 seat replacement for DC9s and MD80s but that they are not yet available at a reasonable price. The underlying tone was that these 100 seat jets when they become available will be flown by mainline pilots at mainline payrate.

Why would anybody go to places like Mesaba and Mesa when up until very recently just about everybody was hiring? Everybody knows those places are the worst companies in the entire United States. Why not just stay doing what you were doing a few months longer and get a job at a decent regional. Yes, that is an oxymoron, but not all regionals are created equal. Some may fly the same equipment as the other guy, but company size and stability are serious issues.

So lately I've been doing a lot of deadheading on the 900 and I can't help but hear people b**** and whine all the time about how much their paying for an airline ticket these days. It's amazing how the general public doesn't have a freakin clue and is brainwashed on this...if it cost alot to fill your car...it cost more to fill a plane...common sense people! Not to mention the poverty level pay we are gettin here! I even heard someone say they should get rid of all the flight attendants and have one pilot to save money!
