One of the last ALPA emails said that the per diem issue was dealt with. However the hook is you must submit the per diem request yourself. That process I am not sure about.

This is a new hire issue about per diem.

How far back are we able to try and claim the per diem? I spent a week in St. Louis back in Oct.

Old chicago happy hour... not bad cheap eats. There is also a little chinese takeout place that looks ratty but the food is good; up near the Hoiday Inn.

Once we are understaffed (which is normal) the company will not allow for sideway moves in aircraft.
I do agree with your points there. My point earlier was more so similar to your response of if the rates are going to change, some way seniority would have to come into play.

Unfortunately the County Inn will not be hosting us anymore... Some idiot bean counter decided that to save a couple bucks a night we are going back up the road about a mile. I forget what the name of the place is, I think it was the Holiday Inn, but the name is different now. Word is the new place has absolutely lousy van service... bring a car if possible.

That is too bad about the hotel. Country Inn was so easy to deal with. Just a short walk across the parking lot.

The Holiday Inn sucked. No refrigerators. Lousy van service. No free breakfast. Now you get to spend all your time chasing after food and trying to get back and forth from the CAE building rather than studying. Smart idea...

Oh yeah. My first hotel in Denver was on the South East corner of the city and the company was hiring a Town Car Service to take us back and forth. The car had about a forty minute lead time. Add the thirty minute ride (no traffic) and you were looking at about an hour and fifteen minutes one way. Each way was $40. My sim partner and I started leaving at different times and making a point to stop in for study sessions and the training center. The company never picked up on the transportation costs. We eventually checked ourselves into the Country Inn on our own.

You can get a mini-fridge in the old Holiday Inn, upon request, if they have enough.

RGS is 4 days. Hazmat, Security, DG, inflate the life vests, open the emergency exits, CRM and Systems. All done at the training center, using the hunk of fuselage for the doors part. A brief busride to the Flight Attendant building where you will join them for 2 hours of the CRM program. Test at the end of it all on last day. 80% or better to pass. Study the test bank that is on MyMesaba. Will give you a good start.

RFI is 1 day. 2 hours of "ground/pre-briefing" W&B, TLR, Talk about the plan in the sim and the speil on how it is flight training, not flight checking. Into the sim for 4-5 hours (2-2.5hrs as PF and PNF). Steep turns, all 3 Stalls, 3 approaches (1 ILS, 2 non-prec), 3 landings, some malfunctions, V1 cuts, windshear and/or CFIT. Maybe a TCAS RA, and anything else you want to see or do in the assigned time. Screw something up, they retrain you right there. If can't be retrained in the time allowed, come back for another session as per the contract.

If you are an FO, get as much out of it as possible. It will be the last time you see the sim until your PC 11-13 months out. Nice to be able to fit in a couple of extra V1's or stalls etc, just to fine tune them a final time before it counts at the next checking event.
