Just in case you didnt notice the music stopped about two months ago. And it stopped again last week, and it might not start again for a while, and the tune that will start up again is deep reserve as a captain.

Well, I don't want to jinx anything by disputing that one.

How is the CRJ-900 training compared to the Saab?? I wouldn't think the 900 systems are more complex than the Saab, but I could be wrong??

wouldn't know, we start systems tomorrow, but you'd have to ask a former saab guy upgrading to captain :P

I am going to say it will go really senior. I would be surprised to see if anyone DTW or MEM got the award.

They will likely all be MSP SF 340 FO's with maybe a few DTW guys

just a total guess though

The CRJ is a peice of cake compared to the Saab. The training system is so refined. The FTDs and the CBT are very effective training. Bythe time that you are in the sim all you are learning is how to fly the plane. There have been a lot of pilots trained using this system and method; very refined training program. You might find yourself thinking that you are not learning anything about the airplane, but suddenly you know a whole lot because it is so well interwoven into creating effective results. Just my opinion... I'm sure that people have struggled for various reasons as well.

Hey all,

I start class in June and need some input. I just got an email this week confirming the 900. How long is training going to take? My brother is getting married in September and I would like to be there (Hawaii !!). Also, I am living near Dayton, OH and am hoping for DTW. Is DTW still the junior base? What are my chances of being based there? How long is reserve looking? I got a packet in the mail that I have read front to back. It is now $60 roundtrip for immediate family to travel? What is the international fee? When do travel benefits start for myself as well as my family? I am sorry for all the questions but am rather uncertain of a lot of information I would like to obtain. Thanks in advice to all those offering guidance.

I started upgrade Jan 21, Completed sims March 28. I am still in the IOE process, supposedly will be done by the end of this month... Hard to say where you will be based because we are just about done with the hiring. So where you go you might be staying for quite a while, but I'd say you have a decent shot at DTW. Travel benefits should start as soon as you get registered in the system. Shouldn't be more than a few days after starting class. You/wife/kids should be free domestic travel in coach, your parents I believe it's $30 per leg, in laws are not eligible to travel. No idea what it costs to go international, never had enough time or money to try.

Hey Saab guys, got recurrent coming up in a couple months. Just curious What all happens during that. Do you go through general subjects and systems again? They don't make you go to the airport to put out that lame fire again do they? Just curious what to expect in the classroom and sim. Can't wait for those V1 cuts again..
