Mesaba new hires

Ha... operating my lawnmower is getting difficult at these prices. (and it's an electric mower)

While anything is certainly possible, I don't see the company shifting any of the 17 CRJ-200s to other domiciles. The 17 CR2's are very close to fully staffed in MSP. Most of those pilots are MSP pilots, who would probably want to stay in MSP. In order to shift the planes around, they would need to displace pilots, which would mean a brand new training nightmare for the company.
Of course, they could do it anyway, but it would be very expensive, and a huge hassle for all caught up in it.

How do you know this? What's to say they won't give us more routes on the 200 or what's to say they don't take away all Mesaba's flying? There really is no way anyone could know.
I did hear a deal is eminent within the next week, if it doesn't happen next week it will happen the week after that. And every week it doesn't happen it will be announced the week after.

from a financial standpoint the 50 seat planes are too spendy to operate in comparison to the 76 seaters. if this merger were to go through, i think 50 seat flying would be reduced

People are always making this claim and I have to wonder if it is fact or just rumors all based on message board gossip. If the -200s are so inefficient to run why is NW running them? Does Delta have some kind of secret information that NW does not know about and is going to immediately ground the 200s? If they ground them what happens to the planes (if you are going to reduce flying you will ground planes right)? I know this is a message board and we come here to speculate but your speculation about 50 seat flying being reduced has the same odds of happening right now as my opinion that Mesaba will not be a company next year at this time.

Does anyone know a hotel near DTW that has low rates for a Mesaba pilot and a shuttle to/from the airport. Just trying to find a place for one night this week while passing through to FL.

The Metro is the crew hotel, should have good rates and it is less than 2 miles from the airport. They also have a 3-2-1 special downstairs

they do not have a bar, imo the metropolitan is a much nicer hotel and if they have a bar it is worth it right there
the nwa/delta merger will elminate every regional airline except the one that you work for!
