I was assigned a -200 reserve line for April due to there not being enough regular lines available for me to hold with my seniority. It's not all that bad so far. I recommend it if you like having a lot of time off.

I've served a total of 8 days on reserve this month (April) so far and I've been called for 3 times. However, one of them was a line check to extend my 100 hours minimum requirement in 120 days out to 150 days. My last turn turned into an overnight, so I was back the next day and home by 9:30am. I haven't been called for "ready reserve".

It's nuts, I think I've worked a total of ~15 days (including IOE) since my December PC. What job have you done that at ever? In short, I've been playing a lot of Xbox360 in the last few months. Proficiency becomes somewhat of an issue though with that much time off.

Speaking of proficiency...my last turn was a 27 minute flight that involved a non-functioning APU, X-bleed start, unpressurized cabin, stall fail caution, holding (which that CA and I struggled to get the FMS to capture), moderate icing, X-wind component at limits, and I had my first taste of diverting in the real world. No doubt that all this won't phase me in a few months. For now, with "green on green" experience, it was quite the workload for two guys coming off about 9 days off and only the second trip off IOE.

Looking at the May bid package, I'm senior enough to get a line next month so I shouldn't have any problems meeting my 100 mins. I don't think I could stomach another PC and Oral at this point.

I heard they're gonna start putting some 200's in DTW. Anyone else hear that?

We're flying thru trips with them starting in May, but I haven't heard anything about them being based there. Should be nice to start flying some real trips...doing turns with Minny over and over gets stale quick.

Yeah, for sure. I've been told 200 bases in both DTW and MEM.

I know this next month we bridge alot of flights through DTW but I dont think any planes are gonna be based there yet. But then again two weeks ago I heard that we are gonna bypass 18 and get two 200's a month till we hit 50. It sure is a blast hanging out in the crew room lol.

that would be cool but you also have to think if or when this merger happens, they may be reducing the 50 seat flying

How do you know this? What's to say they won't give us more routes on the 200 or what's to say they don't take away all Mesaba's flying? There really is no way anyone could know.

I did hear a deal is eminent within the next week, if it doesn't happen next week it will happen the week after that. And every week it doesn't happen it will be announced the week after.

It is very hard to operate with so many -200s because of fuel cost, and we all know right now is not the best time with fuel about $110/barrel. Operating -900s however is a different story.
