To be clear......The company covers your hotel and per diem if you are out of base reserve--it doesn't matter if you volunteer or not. Check the mesaba alpa webboards for exactly this discussion.

If you are sitting reserve at a base where there's no flying, does it make sense to request out-of-base reserve to a base where there is open time in order to maximize/enhance your chances of getting a few turns? DTW - no flying, MSP - several lines of open time.
I realize if you request, you have to pay for hotel, no car, etc... but what about the flying part?

Generally speaking, they will not approve an out of base reserve request unless they have posted a need for online. There hasn't been a posted need in MSP for some time now and the FO's I fly with that are on reserve say they are rarely flying. So the grass isn't any greener here in MSP. Maybe MEM would be a better place to go?
Out of base reserve, regardless of pilot requested or not, pays per diem 24/7, hotel and positive space travel to and from your domicile and the out of base domicile.
Hope that helps.

Why are -200 SIMs so backed up? I'm waiting on a reschedule for my checkride and they told me it could be up to a month.

I saw a memo on the crew room door saying we are suppose to park back in the humphrey ramp starting Friday. Were can I find the parking info for which levels and specific rows we are suppose to park in? I thought we could park anywere in the ramp that was open, but I guess not. That sure adds a ton of time to get to the terminal, especially if you just miss the train lol!
You can find it again by logging into MyMesaba. Stay on the home page and under the heading RECENT POSTINGS, click on More...
Scroll down about 50 links and click on MSP PARKING WARNING.
Basically, Ramp levels 3-8, Rows C-E only.

33 reserve lines in detroit on the FO side of things in the Saab...
...and at least there will be substantial movement in the 900 for the foreseeable future.

OK, I will try to be polite here:
10 reserve lines is pretty standard. There is absolutely nothing sucky about 10 reserve lines. Sometimes you might only have a few reserve lines, and that would be considered lucky.
