Any Mesaba guys have some tips for the interview they would be greatly appreciated. Looking at the gouges I have a pretty good idea but first hand knowledge from you guys is golden.

My advice is to practice some sample wonderlic tests on the internet. I did 2 quick sample tests for 5 minutes and I feel it helped me get off to a faster start than I would have otherwise.
Also, have a few stories in mind for the 'tell me about a time when' questions. If you have 4-5 diverse stories ready to go in your head you can apply them to just about any question.
Be 100% honest and sincere with all of your answers and RELAX... I felt as if they were paying more attention to my demeanor and the social aspects of my answers rather than the details.

My advice for Mesaba or any airline is to start studying for whatever plane you fly. For some reason new hires think that because we are desperate to hire pilots, we will also lower our standards for passing class. Although you may get the "call" much earlier than before, the standards to pass are still in place.

Tips for the interview: Be yourself, study hard, come prepared (aviationinterviews.com) and ask them questions that you may have of them. Get your instrument scan up for the sim, its pretty easy if you have a good scan and know holding, different entries etc.
What is Mesaba's jump seating, non rev'ing policy during ground training out of MSP. What about for other people while in training?

Flight bennies for you on red tail flights start almost immediately, although CASS takes about 3 weeks. Bennies for your spouse (if you have one) start after you register on the employee site and turn in the associated documents. (one week to ten days)
Hope this helps.

There were a few guys in my class who went home almost every weekend--even before we were in CASS. They had no trouble getting back but started early (most of them were back by noon on Sunday which makes for a short weekend home). I didn't go home at all but am home now for two weeks waiting sim. After that I might get some more time off waiting for IOE. So, if you can handle being away from home for 5 weeks you will then get some time off.

5 weeks is nuthin. Of course I'm single.....I can't speak for any of you married guys (or girls).
If hired - how soon are they scheduling classes? Ex: I interview on Aug 2nd, what time frame could I expect?

I have no idea what they are telling people now, but I interviewed in mid April and was told mid-July for training.

5 weeks is nothing, and I am not single, it is the lifestyle we chose so expect it.
I got a clss date about 3 months after my interview date i would say that is about average, but maybe more with all the hiring.
I interviewed may 28th got the call june 5, for a sept 10 class, wanted a late aug class but my current job runs through Aug

I interviewed in early March and was offered a July class. I told them I was available earlier and they gave me May 28th. Another two weeks and I will be finished with sim and on to IOE.
